About this listen

"We are to love God for Himself, because of a twofold reason; nothing is more reasonable, nothing is more profitable."

On Loving God is first a touching description of God's love for us as unmistakenly demonstrated in the death of His Son. Second, it is a call for us to joyfully respond to God like the child who runs and embraces her father whose love is sure. As St. Bernard writes, "They love all the more because they know themselves to be loved so exceedingly."

Do you love God?

This brief book helps to clarify for those in Christ the motives of why we love God. And in our progressive sanctification, Bernard sheds divine light so we can know, love and enjoy the Maker of the heavens and the earth at the highest level, even now while pilgrams on the earth, and ultimately with Him forever in the Kingdom of God with the incarnate, crucified, resurrected, ascended, glorified Immanuel... who will come again as promised. For God does not and cannot LIE like our enemy the devil.

Inside the mind and spirit of a saint

There are too many pearls and priceless jewels to be grasped at in one reading, each one a delicacy to be savored, but hastily comes another. When I knew Him not, I had sought Him in another. As I find Him out, I find I need no other.

For All Christians.

This work of the Saint is so important for all Christians to read. To love God you must understand him, for love follows knowledge. So too, is also vastly important to understand what love truly is, especially when the word is used so flippantly within the English speaking culture.

Timeless insight with amazing depth

I can't even begin to guess how our ancient figures of the faith knew God so well. Bernard, rightly called St Bernard, takes down a journey of relishing in God's lavish love for us and logically and rationally shows us why God deserves our love in return. It makes you want to bow down and worship with all your heart and soul.

Clear Oration but ...

It was a pleasant surprise to not have to replay it over again and again. Old Cistercian and Ascetic writings tend to suffer from low quality recordings. Still the Orator was a bit monotonous for the last half hour or so.
