About this listen

A Picasso disappears en route from Chicago to New Hampshire.

While the truck is moving.

The multi-million dollar painting is there, then it’s not. It’s gone, but it can’t be.

  • Kendra Jean Valentine, underwriting agent for the policy, is on the hook. She scrapes together enough to hire two women to work the case. Two "regular" women no self-respecting insurance agent would look twice at. Which is exactly why KJ thinks they’re perfect.
  • Westen Hughes owns a failing pet shop. With creditors phoning daily, she jumps at the chance to earn a bundle of easy money, even though the offer comes from high school nemesis KJ Valentine, who stole everything in high school: Head cheerleader, homecoming queen, and the star quarterback.
  • Phoebe Smith is a snake-loving, underwear-hating, tuba player with more baggage than Logan Airport - Westen’s total opposite in all ways.

Ten percent of a 100,000,000 is....

Well, it’s a lot so Smith and Westen join forces on a rollercoaster ride to find one of the world’s most valuable paintings.

Great start

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This is the first story in hopefully a long series of mysteries solved by Smith and Westen. 2 women who where down on their luck and thought they could solve they mystery of the missing $100,000,000 painting. If they can find the painting not only can they get the cash they so desperately need but also help a kinda friend in need. The story was funny and well written however the audio could use some help, there are a few voice overs.

Entertaining

This is an entertaining and well written cozy mystery. Smith and Weston are engaging and intelligent. The mystery is well developed and flows at a good pace. I enjoyed the immediate comradery of the two lead characters. I also liked how they worked together to solve the mystery. The story kept me interested from beginning to end. I look forward to thenext book in this series.

This book was given to me for free in exchange for a free and unbiased review.

To catch a crook on the hook

This is the first book by this author I have listened to and I quiet enjoyed it. I liked the way the pair have to puzzle out how the robbery took place and think out side of the box . There was plenty of suspects to keep you guessing and listening.
A hundred million dollar Picasso painting has been stolen as it travelled from one museum to another. Fingers all point to Kendra Jean Valentine as she was the underwriting agent for the policy. Nobody believe she wasn't involved somehow, not even her boyfriend so she turns to the one person how might be able to help, the girl she bullied at school. When asking Westen Hughes for help they are over heard by Phoebe Smith and a very unlikely partnership is formed in the hunt for the missing painting. Neither have any training in investigating a robbery but they both need money badly and a will to learn if only KJ would stop calling every five minutes to get a progress report. The problem is someone knows they are investigating and the pair is being followed.
The narrator was okay but didn't really have much reflection in her voice or range of voices so everybody tended to sound the same. Other than that it was a good book and I would try another book by this author.

Good mystery

I very much enjoyed this mystery. It kept me guessing through the whole book.

I think the recording needs to be cleaned up. There are parts where there is a lot of echo from the microphone.

I would read another book by this author but I don't think I would listen to another audiobook.

I was given this review copy and this is my honest review.
