About this listen

Aristotle Onassis was a born orator, and Jackie Kennedy would sit and listen to him spin off tales and stories - often racy - by the hour. A speaker of seven languages, he could keep a dinner party of some of the world's most sophisticated conversationalists spellbound. Even Jackie couldn't help but drop her reserve and laugh with him. America's First Lady simply never knew anyone quite as free or exotic as Aristotle Onassis, a paradoxical blend of raconteur and ruffian.

Beginning with Aristotle Onassis' childhood and his first financial success as an Argentine tobacco dealer, author Frank Brady gives the listener an intimate account of Onassis' rise to the ranks of super-billionaire. Brady captures all the drama and romance of this glamorous tycoon, peeling away the persona to reveal the husband, lover, father, financial wiz, and companion to the Churchills, Kennedys, and Roosevelts.

A very interesting account of Onassis life. He persevered and reached the top of the mountain of wealth. Not an easy thing to accomplish. I can't say money did not make him happy because it brought him satisfaction, comfort, and access to other fascinating and important people. I don't think he was a tragic wealthy man. He was an intelligent man and could be ruthless (in his position he had to be). A good and rare biography of Aristole Onassis.

A,fascinating life journey of Onassis

Wow! Who knew about this man and his adventures? Amazing stories! I was spellbound. So much new information in this book about his life and who he was. I suspect we will never know half of it. A real power broker.

Great storytelling! I stayed up all night!

This account is very thorough and goes into a lot of details about Mr. Onassis' life. The author gave an unbiased account and explained some of the quirks Mr. Onassis. had. Although, I did skip a bit of the business deals it still helped one understand how he acquired his wealth. He was an opportunist and a bit shady, but that's just how he lived his life. It was nice to get a deeper understanding of his marriage to Jacquie K. Well-written account.
The narrator did a wonderful job of reading.

Glad I listened than read this. Narrator did real well pronouncing the words. Books like these I prefer to listen too as there are some details that are just filler in my opinion. Great story. Fascinating individual. PBD had recommended the book and I enjoyed it

The mysteries of the man Onassis. A splendid read. His yacht the Christina O. sounds like a pleasure craft.

Ostentatious and profound man

The narrator Malcolm Hillgartner was letter perfect and has one of the most beautiful voices. He made one tiny error, however: He referred to Apollo II (Apollo Eleven) as "Apollo Two" , mistaking the "II" for "two" instead of "eleven". I know, it's a tiny error but it was funny.
That aside, the author Frank Brady does a meticulous job of getting all the facts he could gather and setting them forth in an interesting way. Once again, Malcolm Hillgartner does a superb job narrating the audiobook.

Malcolm Hillgartner has a beautiful voice
