About this listen

They are England's most eligible bachelors, with the most scandalous reputations. But for the right woman, even an unrepentant rogue may mend his ways.

Born to the street but raised within the aristocracy, Drake Darling can't escape his sordid beginnings. Not when Lady Ophelia Lyttleton snubs him at every turn, a constant reminder he's not truly one of them. But after rescuing her from a mysterious drowning, he realizes she doesn't remember who she is. With plans to bring her to heel, he insists she's his housekeeper - never expecting to fall for the charming beauty.

While Ophelia might not recall her life before Drake, she has little doubt she belongs with him. The desire she feels for her dark, brooding employer can't be denied, regardless of consequences. So when Ophelia's memory returns, she is devastated by the depth of his betrayal. Now Drake must risk everything to prove she can trust this rogue with her heart once more.

Don't care for this narrator

Thought the heroine was not well written. Her actions and thoughts while she was without memory were not what I expected and not believable to me. The interactions were not really believable or real to me. Really don't care for this narrator.

Darling is my kind of rogue!

What a delicious way to get revenge. I won't bore you with a repeat of what has been said already about the storyline by other reviewers but I thought his revenge was short lived. I actually found the entire memory loss and Drake taking advantage of it all very humorous except that it did not go very far and the book quickly turned into serious and heavy. I was not glued to the book but I found it to be entertaining and I enjoyed reading it but it lacked that draw for me.

Gorgeous

I had lower expectations going into Once More, My Darling Rogue because I heard the hero took advantage of the heroine and the heroine was horrible. After reading it, I don’t see it that way. Both the characters had a lot of trauma that they were dealing with. Ophelia unable to remember made her able to open up and deal with what her uncle did to her. Drake should have told her sooner, but if he did, would have she trusted him in the end? Probably not. The character growth was gorgeous, the pacing on point, and I loved the how the story unfolded.

Enjoyable

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I enjoyed the characters and the development of the story line.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked both Drake and Ophelia, but Ophelia was interesting because of her background that no one knew about. This affected her personality and how she treated others. There was a glimpse into Drake's character in the previous book, however I enjoyed his history as well. I also enjoyed the relationship Drake had with his adopted family.

What does Helen Lloyd and James Adams bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

They make the listen more appealing.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The rescue and the care given to Ophelia.

Another outstanding L Heath masterpiece

I've only recently discovered Lorraine Heath and her masterful historical romances, but am totally entranced. Lorraine's creatvie stories and realistic characters have drawn me in as no other author has. I simply cannot stop listening...and totally engrossed in the story.

Sweet revenge turns out sweeter

Sweet revenge...turns out sweeter than one might think.

Slow Start...Blazingly Wonderful Finish.

This book didn't grab me right away. I found that I didn't mind taking a break from it during the first half. Then the second half started and I never wanted to press pause!! When the attraction started to grow...the maid next door came into the picture....animals were brought into the picture..THIS STORY TOOK OFF!

It didn't take long for me to like Phee (she was not so likeable in the first few hours) and of course I loved Drake from the beginning. The chemistry was palpable.

This book also featured a couple of dark elements that Heath includes in her books...but telling you is a spoiler so just know there are some triggers for some listeners.

I craved more detail about Drake's relationship with his adopted parents Sterling and Frannie....and boy I was rewarded with moments requiring massive amounts of tissue!!! Like.... sobbing with happiness.

It seems the narrator took some of the suggestions that many reviewers had from the first book to heart (or she's just growing on me) because she seems to be better in this book. One of the major problems I had with the narrator in the last book was she made Frannie sound like a cockney commoner.....but in this book she makes Frannie and Sterling sound like they're 900 years old. I know they're getting up in years but I just would have rather her tone down the way she portrayed Frannie and Sterling in this book.

Worth a credit....listen to all Heath's books in order though for the full affect. (Go to her website...more helpful than Audible for a chronological listing) Loved this installment....on to Avendale's story!!!

Love this series

Love the characters and how flawed they are yet, they could find redemption in ra others eyes. Ending was great. Only thought is the book is a bit long. This series is great though.
