About this listen

Dear Lady Truelove... I have fallen in love, truly and completely in love, for the first time. The man whom I hold in such passionate regard, however, is not of my station. He is a painter, a brilliant artist. Needless to say, my family would not approve....

Henry, Duke of Torquil, wouldn't be caught reading the wildly popular "Dear Lady Truelove" column, but when its advice causes his mother to embark on a scandalous elopement, an outraged Henry decides the author of this tripe must be stopped before she can ruin any more lives. Though Lady Truelove's identity is a closely guarded secret, Henry has reason to suspect the publisher of the notorious column, beautiful and provoking Irene Deverill, is also its author.

For Irene, it's easy to advise others to surrender to passion, but when she meets the Duke of Torquil, she soon learns that passion comes at a price. When one impulsive, spur-of-the-moment kiss pulls her into a scorching affair with Henry, it could destroy her beloved newspaper, her career, and her independence. But in the duke's arms, surrender is so, so sweet....

just ok for me

I have read almost all the historical romance novels available with a bearable narrator. This one was so slow to the point I thought I would die before we got there, then it was over.

Very Enjoyable

I really enjoyed this book. The heroine, Irene, is very strong minded and forward thinking. The hero, Henry, is also a very strong minded and serious Duke. The narration by Carolyn Morris was excellent.

Surprising Delight

At the beginning of this book, I took an aversion to the main characters. A controlling, manipulative and narrow-minded Duke and a strong-willed just as narrow-minded newspaper publisher. But, Laura Lee Guhrke soon began to spin a story that drew me in. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and developed an affinity with the characters.

Really enjoyed this one!

Finally a regency romance that doesn't have a ridiculously weak woman doing unbelievably stupid things. The characters were believable without being over the top, and speckled with secondary characters which had personality, without being overbearing. Thought the sex scenes were very well written without being embarrassing.

" I want to love you Henry, but you make it impossible"

Beautifully written book. Very little is written about each character thoughts however the conversations ran very long. I was surprised as I am not used to these long scenes filled with back and forth conversations. As a result the number of scenes where anything happened were reduced drastically. I love less mind babble and more conversations in my books but I feel there needs to be more scenes and maybe a bit less conversation so that the story does not feel like a play. Overall however it was a wonderful book.
