About this listen

Popular author Bettye Griffin crafts a wholesome romance about four friends heading into their silver years and still learning about love. Elyse, Susan, Grace and Pat are all turning 50, just like the Chicago housing project where they all grew up. As they gather for a reunion with other former residents, the women learn it's never too late to follow their hearts.©2008 Bettye Griffin (P)2008 Recorded Books African American Contemporary Contemporary Romance Fiction Romance Urban City Heartfelt

A hidden gem so close to home!!!

I stumbled upon this book whilst searching for my next read/listen and SO GLAD I DID!! I cannot begin to tell you how over 50% of this book resonates to my real life. Born and raised in Chicago, lived in a high rise building (not the projects). The same BFF's into adulthood, currently live in Kenosha, almost 50, and SO MUCH more!!! I was so captivated by things mentioned in the book, that I felt like it was almost written for me Lol..I am so happy that I read this book and want so many other people to read it.
I read the author's bio, and it states that she still lives in the area - so now I'm wondering if we've ever crossed paths, and I didn't know it. I'd love to meet her now if so. One last thing that made me love the book is that it's original release date is 10/23; the bday of my very best friend since the first grade whom recently passed. This book will be listed in my Favorites!!!

Entertaining

I enjoyed the story of this long-standing friendship. These ladies showed us that, if you want anything bad enough and are willing to work for it. There are pots of gold at the end of the rainbow.
