About this listen

From the Queen of Police Procedural Joy Ellis, the #1 bestselling author of the Jackman and Evans series and Guard Her with Your Life, comes a terrifying new Audible Original thriller featuring a brand-new detective, Det. Inspector Kate Carter. Performed by Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter, Mission: Impossible, Captain America).

Det. Inspector Kate Carter and her team are assigned to investigate the murder of man found inside the wreckage of a car. A vintage vinyl record from 1964, found next to the body, soon turns out to be an important clue as a second body is discovered. And meanwhile, Det. Inspector Kate, shrewd and smart, and a happy-go-lucky mum to three children, has something very dark to contend with her in her personal life. Sinister phone calls, creepy notes left on her car, unwanted gifts being left at her doorstep: Kate can no longer deny that she herself is being pursued by an obsessive stalker…

Good voice acting

Pretty good story just thought it was rushed. Good overall and would recommend. Opportunity for a good sequal.

Great story

There was nothing to dislike. I have nothing further to add. Just a few words to make the fifteenth word required.

Concise. Not a lot filler crap

Got right to the point. Not a lot extracurricular crap. And finally a uk police procedural where no one hides things. Can’t recall titles or characters but so many have a main character that keeps secrets, her or his colleagues are at a distance and no one know much anyone else. I would definitely listen to more in this series I am unfamiliar with the audio actor but she did an excellent job

Another great story from Joy Ellis!

I have enjoyed all the books so far that I have listened to from Joy Ellis, and this one is no exception. This is a new cast of characters, with a few familiar thrown in, that I really hope the author expands on in the future. The narrator did a great job and I hope to hear more from her with this (hopefully) new series.

Not terrifying, a bit boring.

It was billed as terrifying, but I didn't find anything about it at all terrifying. I found the story a bit pedestrian. Not very innovative or interesting. I thought the resolution was disappointing. It was surprising as I usually enjoy this author.

I found it difficult to distinguish who was talking, due to the narrator not making an effort to give the characters distinctive voices.
