About this listen

Who could have predicted this? Being at the same wedding. In Ireland. There’s a reason one-night stands are one-night stands. You’re not supposed to see each other again, especially not when you’re the maid of honor, and he’s the groom’s brother....

Sarah Anderson has never been more excited about anything in her life. She’s going to her best friend’s wedding. And not just any wedding. An Irish wedding. Goodbye New York, hello rolling green hills and men with beautiful accents and twinkling eyes.

But Sarah should have known that not all guests are fairy-tale princes....

There’s the chinless Uncle Trevor, whose idea of small talk is to claim climate change is a conspiracy.

Then there’s Great Aunt Eileen, who doesn’t talk at all (she’s too busy replacing the hotel cutlery with her own set).

Worst of all, there’s Declan Murphy. Best man. Brother of the groom. And the man Sarah last saw naked.

Is there anything more mortifying than bumping into a one-night stand halfway across the world? Especially as Declan seems determined to embarrass Sarah at every turn. At least when the wedding’s over she’ll never have to see him again.

But, back in New York, Sarah finds the more she tries to forget Declan, the more she can’t shake the thought of that infuriatingly charming smile and the way he wears a tux....

Was he really just for one night only, or might Declan Murphy be The One?

Prepare to laugh until you cry with this perfect feel-good romantic comedy about taking a chance on love.

A very enjoyable listen - the writing is sharp and moves quickly, letting us into the lives of these flawed but very interesting characters. At times funny, or quite moving, this is a terrific audiobook!

Smart, funny, with very real characters!

I really enjoyed the many twists in the story. The Author’s writing style has become my favorite. I absolutely fell in love with Declan!

Loved this!

It’s a nice story and descriptive. It was nice to see the guy more interested in the girl than vice versa.

Trust

This book was not for me. I was expecting to laugh so hard and have a great time all throughout the book. Their was one funny part in the very beginning while they were in Ireland but in my opinion the book went down after that. I hung on for another laugh that never came. I enjoyed the narrator for the most part but there were times I couldn't tell if she was the man or the woman. There wasn't much variation in the voice and sometimes her accents flipped, meaning the Americans sounded Irish. Even with my critiques it's a good read.

Not a romcom

I thought it was a good read. A little different than the typical love story. It was fairly predictable with a few twists and turns but in a way that it made it easy and lighthearted. I appreciate the author breaking away from the societal norms in terms of the woman with some commitment issues and being the one with a string of one night stands. I loved the witty banter and sarcastic humor. The narrators were good and made for an easy listen.

Fun read

IMO, the main character was WAY too dramatic. Other than that, it was very good.

2.5 to be more precise. I didn't love the main character, her behavior was kind of 'mean girlish' at times, self centered, and toxic. I was also disappointed with how things resolved or didn't for that matter with her work. I didn't really understand the chemistry between the two love interests.

More or less disappointed

The story was cute and I finished it but the American accent was not believable and there were several linguistic inaccuracies.
