Publisher's summary

Harper Jenkins is at the top of her game. A brilliant, determined journalist with a well-known knack for getting tight-lipped Hollywood stars to open up to her, Harper loves her job as Celebrity Editor at a newspaper’s glossy weekend magazine and has the best contacts in the business.

But when her awful boss hires talented reporter Ryan to be the new Features Editor, Harper is furious. Because the two have met before: a decade ago, they were interns at the same publication, where they fell into a whirlwind romance…until Ryan betrayed Harper, and they never spoke again.

Thrown together in a busy newsroom, their dynamic is a disaster from the start. They can’t agree on anything and bicker constantly—Ryan can’t bear how chaotic and messy Harper is; Harper finds Ryan’s condescending nature infuriating. They clash over who’s writing what article, and fight over who’s going to which event.

Yet as they’re forced to spend more and more time together, Harper realizes she may have misjudged Ryan and can’t help but feel a spark growing between them. Long buried feelings start to resurface and, when they’re thrown together on a romantic press trip abroad, their chemistry comes to a head.

But all is fair in love and magazines, and with the news that layoffs across the department are imminent, Harper is left to wonder: who will get the last word?

Good story, great narrator

I prefer the bridesmaids books by this author. This book was a little bit slow and the main characters came across as very immature.

I did, however, really enjoy this narrator! She did a great job of giving each character a distinctive voice. I know that isn’t easy to do.

Loved It!

It was a funny and sweet story and I love Karen Cass’s narration. She is wonderful and I specifically look for books narrated by her. This is the second book I have read written by Katy Birchall and so far she hasn’t disappointed me.

Pretty good romcom

I love Karen cass so thought I would give this author a try. It was pretty enjoyable.I thought I wasn’t going to be able to handle their bickering, but I got used to it and had a good time reading.

Fun.

I liked the characters. Her stubbornness was frustrating at times. Probably because it was a bit of a peek into how I act at times!!

BEAUTIFUL STORY

As always I loved her writing style! I loved how realistic this story is. Very much enjoyed the narrator. A good book is not any good if the narrator is not good. I just read the second review for this book and it was mentioned it was a slow book… I wish this reviewer could just realize maybe she likes thriller or a different type of better books instead of saying this book wasn’t any good.
Definitely recommend this book, well done!

Another adorable story

I love these type of rom com stories- light and airy. And laugh out loud. A great summer listen, or for a light hearted break from my normal drama / thriller listens. LOVE the narrator, she makes the book.

For enemies to lovers fans

Katy Birchalls writing and Karen Cass’s narration are a great combination.
The story is a little slow paced in the beginning. The main character is incredibly obstinate which kept me constantly on edge. If you’re a fan of enemies to lovers then this one’s for you. If you’re not then this is a skip.
