Publisher's summary

A teen girl navigates friendship drama, the end of high school, and discovering her queerness in Ophelia After All, a hilarious and heartfelt contemporary YA debut by author Racquel Marie.

Ophelia Rojas knows what she likes: her best friends, Cuban food, rose-gardening, and boys - way too many boys. Her friends and parents make fun of her endless stream of crushes, but Ophelia is a romantic at heart. She couldn’t change, even if she wanted to.

So when she finds herself thinking more about cute, quiet Talia Sanchez than the loss of a perfect prom with her ex-boyfriend, seeds of doubt take root in Ophelia’s firm image of herself. Add to that the impending end of high school and the fracturing of her once-solid friend group, and things are spiraling a little out of control. But the course of love - and sexuality - never did run smooth.

As her secrets begin to unravel, Ophelia must make a choice between clinging to the fantasy version of herself she’s always imagined or upending everyone’s expectations to rediscover who she really is, after all.

YA Gem 💎

Thus is a wonderful story. The main character is a gem of a young woman figuring out herself, orientation, perception in the eyes of family and friends, and an incredible voice. Parents were well represented. Friendship drama was realistic. The story was full of surprises, insight and wisdom for young adults dealing with identity questions and sexuality. You will not be disappointed, you will be uplifted.

Pretty good

It’s a pretty relatable story. A lot of the main characters feels throughout the book were relatable and I loved how the main character didn’t get what she wanted and instead got what she needed nice change of pace from other books.

It's worth hearing.

This story caught me so off guard with the feels. I've listened to a lot of gay teen dramas but this one really caught me in a way I wasn't expecting.
It stole my heart. I didn't expect to cry so suddenly without knowing why.

Delightful Coming of Age

A light and charming story with teen characters--suitable for both teens and adults. It's not deep but does touch on important topics. Lovely narration. A great listen if you're looking for something with heart but not too heavy.

Enjoyable but Unbelievable

I enjoyed the performance amd the story was fine, I guess, but it just seemed so convenient amd unbelievable. Nothing about it seemed real or authentic. Plot points move along with ease and even the "problems" are resolved with little avtual messiness. I haven't lived this experience so maybe it is accurate but I do know how life goes and the story just seemed very sanitized and concerned with covering all the bases rather than a true perspective. I could be totally wrong about it though. it just felt that way to me.
