About this listen
Florida. Where Weird goes to Die.
What better place than the Sunshine State for dark souls to live out their golden years? After all, who would notice? Uh, Bobbie and Grayson, of course. As a rogue physicist turned conspiracy chaser, Grayson's motto is: Have sentience, will travel. As a broke, private-eye wannabe, Bobbie doesn't have much choice but to follow his sketchy command. But every road Grayson travels down leads to the bizarre, the unexplained, and taco-induced heartburn. Vampires. Zombiguanas. Ikigai smell. Its hard to decide which is scarier!
But decide, Bobbie must. And before sundown, too. Because in the freaky parts of Florida she now investigates with Grayson, nothing is ever quite exactly as it seems .Ready for some pure, escapist fun? Grab a lawn chair and settle in. The weirdness of The X-Files and the unwashed insanity of My Name is Earl collide to form this deliciously snarky, totally abnormal mystery series from the author of the best-selling Val Fremden Mystery Series!

Thirty-nine was a fantastic year. I was married to the man I loved. I had a body that worked without creaking. My grandma, who raised me, was still healthy, and life was pretty damned good. But as they say, all good things come to an end. One year later, I’m a widow. My joints are starting to ache. Gram is in the nursing home, and dead people think my home is some kind of supernatural bed-and-breakfast. Gluing body parts onto semi-transparent people has become a side job - deceased people I’m not even sure are actually there.

Story
In the not-too-distant future, a 21-member crew launches from Earth. Their mission: to establish a temporary colony on Mars. Little do they know that colony will become permanent–and the last stand of the human race. Because, without warning, every single person left on Earth simply...vanishes. Now, a thousand years later, the resources needed to sustain life are running out, and the very existence of the Mars colony is threatened. Humankind has only one option–to return to its home planet.

Loved These
I always look for an “easy” listen when I travel. To me, easy doesn’t mean simplistic- it means something that I don’t need to take notes on, something quirky, & something entertaining. Funny is a plus, and while I am OK with romance as a minor theme- is NOT a romance. I burned through the first 3 books in about as many days. I laughed. I thought it was quirky & fun, I didn’t need to keep character notes so I can remember who is after after my 4th (or more beer), and it was definitely entertaining. I am looking forward to the next two!
The one minor irritation was the character’s constantly being down on her looks. But the rest was great,

Great continuation of a funny series!
Our hero must have been born under a bad star! Something bad is always happening to her! But she always gets rescued!
