About this listen

What if you almost missed the love of your life?

Nadia gets the 7.30 train every morning without fail. Well, except if she oversleeps or wakes up at her friend Emma’s after too much wine.

Daniel really does get the 7.30 train every morning, which is easy because he hasn’t been able to sleep properly since his dad died.

One morning, Nadia’s eye catches sight of a post in the daily paper:

To the cute girl with the coffee stains on her dress. I’m the guy who’s always standing near the doors… Drink sometime?

So begins a not-quite-romance of near-misses, true love, and the power of the written word.

Includes a bonus Q&A between Laura Jane Williams and Carrie Hope Fletcher

A wonderfully funny will-they-won’t-they romance told with real emotional honesty, perfect
for those who loved Sally Thorne’s
99% Mine and Helena Hunting’s Meet Cute.

Feel-good and smart sweet romance

It's so hard to find a romantic story that is not cliché or too corny, so this book felt like jackpot. The writing is great as well as the narrators. The story is also current and brings up feminist topics that are currently popular without leaning too heavily on it. Yet the romance is well... romantic, pushing the falling-in-love fantasy right up to where it should as far as rom-coms go. Hoping that Laura Jane Williams continues to write fiction.

I thought this was very cute

I hesitated in buying this one at first because people were calling it a copy of The Flatshare among other things, but it's not. Sure, there are similarities, but overall it's a good story on its own and not a flat out copy of anything.

Relatable and cute

For me the storyline was starting out a little slow but after it got going the story got good. The conversations between friend and the internal dialogues were really on point with sentiments felt my millennials today. Loved the feminist vibes. Great rom-com, easy listen.

I just ADORED this story! I was afraid it was going to be super cheesy, but it’s not ay all. It actually addresses some dark subjects and kept me hooked!

I love the narrator. The story is one that I think many people will be able to relate to.

I was obsessed.

I couldn't stop grinning while listening to the last few chapters. The read/listen was so frustrating and unbearable at times, but in a fashion similar to struggling with getting the lid off of your favorite flavor of ice cream - you savor every moment of tangible agony knowing full well that the universe, or in this example, ice cream, is about to throw you a heart shaped peg to plug that gap in your chest. I loved every excruciating minute and even caught myself rolling my eyes at every near miss each character made during their journey into collision. When that collision finally happened, it was like a parade of living sparklers and fairies dancing to a love drunk cover of "Ain't that a kick in the head". I'm utterly speechless at the writers ability to make me care so much about two fictional characters happiness, to the point of wanting to drop-kick Daniel in the face for leaving that bar, then wanting to cradle him on a comfy porch swing while letting him cry for however long he wanted (I empathize with his struggle with grief, as I lost my own father at too young an age). This is the first contemporary romance novel I've read/listened to this summer where I didn't have an imaginary face to place with the characters names, and I don't know the exact reason why. Perhaps because I wanted Nadia and Daniel to be anyone, or everyone, to establish a connection with the idea rather than an identity. That love can be both lost and found around every corner and that's okay. I'm not Daniel in my mind, and Nadia isn't the cute girl at the gas station who I've secretly crushed on for far too many minutes, because that's MY story, and this book has me rooting for everyone elses story. Perhaps, that's why I felt so whole after finishing this story; I, too, long for someone elses missed connection to finally collide, because everyone deserves that kind of collision, just like everyone who hashtagged #ourstop was hoping to see Daniel and Nadias happily-ever-beginning. Needless to say, the book was an absolute delight, and I'm lucky to have stumbled upon it. Now stop reading my review, and start reading this book!

Cute and Heartwarming

The story was fun and light, very easy to listen to and follow along. Both performers did a fantastic job bringing their respective characters to life. The story took interesting and unexpected turns that kept me wanting to listen to more.

Lovely

I enjoyed this story a lot!
It took a while for them to finally meet but though it like story dragged a bit, it was fun to read about the characters and how they stayed positive and true to themselves.

Writing is not great

Very predictable story. I don't mind predictable but the writing was unimaginative and remedial. The writer explained everything in a high school type of way which made the characters boring and simple. I wouldn't recommend.
