Publisher's summary

Out of the Ashes is book two of the contemporary Christian romance series Embers and Ashes. Follow the lives of the men of fire station number nine as they face the fires on and off the job. You'll find romance stories full of faith, hope, and love that will leave you feeling inspired.

"You have to have faith, Kane. And faith is felt with the fingertips of your soul."

Firefighter Kane McCormick is one of the younger guys down at fire station nine. While he is charming and attractive, he has a quick temper that often gets him into more trouble than he'd like. When one unlucky night lands him behind bars, Kane is forced to deal with the hard reality of his mother's rapidly deteriorating health. Experience by experience, Kane begins to see how much bigger God is than his problems. Just as he thinks he has it all figured out, a family secret comes to light that might ruin everything.

Fire can destroy, but it also can cleanse. It holds the power to make new what was once old. It is through these fires in our lives that we are refined into something more than we once were. When we lose ourselves, we gain Jesus. Out of the Ashes dives deep into the heart of a believer that is struggling. Kane, just like everyone else, is not perfect, but he has a desire to know God. His story will inspire you, move you, and start a fire in your heart.

This is a must-hear for every born-again Christian who is seeking a great contemporary Christian romance with a little heat.

Life Changing prospective

This is a life-changing perspective on the working of Holy Spirit in peoples lives even through death. God uses everything in life to draw us to himself. He does not waste an opportunity or sorrow to Bring us to our deepest need, our need for Him! TK Chapin captures this truth beautifully in this artfully woven novel! I loved it!

God trades our beauty for ashes & our pain for joy

Would you listen to Out of the Ashes: A Contemporary Christian Romance again? Why?

Yes! I thought it was a great story with a lot of parts that are very relatable.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the ending. I can't say what it is so as not to ruin the story for others, but I think T. K. Chapin did an awesome job and growing the characters throughout the story to bring them to the conclusion.

Which character – as performed by Chris Abell – was your favorite?

Kane, of course. He was the main character so I heard him the most. I liked how he would add a little bit of the attitude that I could feel from the character in his reading of the story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Sure...there were some sad parts especially when the relationships between Kane and his mother and siblings are being dealt with....challenging to not be sad when they were going through struggles...but also easy find joy when the struggles are overcome because of growing relationship with the Lord.

Any additional comments?

This is truly a fantastic story by this author! He is able to take difficult subjects that people struggle with and make them so relatable to any one's life and yet I do not feel like I'm being preached at when he encourages a closer walk with the Lord. Job well done by T.K. Chapin and the audio performer Chris Abell.

I was gifted this book in exchange for my honest review.

Just a few comments

I loved the story concept. I would have enjoyed the audio book more if the narrator had switched voices for the narration and the characters. Also, it felt like the story kept skipping ahead, and I felt like it was missing full development of the different relationships, emotions, and character growth. For those two reasons, I only gave it a 3.
