About this listen

Millions of readers and listeners have come home to Mitford, the little town with the big heart. But now change is coming to the village. Father Tim, the Episcopal rector, and his wife Cynthia are pondering the murky uncertainties of retirement; a brash new mayoral candidate is calling for aggressive development; a shady realtor with plans for a health spa is eyeing the beloved house on the hill; and, worst of all, the Sweet Stuff Bakery may be closing. Meanwhile, ordinary people engage in the extraordinary struggle of keeping body and soul together.

Featuring a lovable cast of new and familiar characters, Out to Canaan proves once again why Mitford is one of the most memorable small towns in recent literature.

Excellent Series

I read the first three books then became an audible member and picked up where I left off with this book. Even better when John McDonough reads to me in the car, and before bed.

My MOST favorite.

This is my go to Comfort story. I’ve probably listened to it 30 or 40 times. I wish she’d write more.

As good as I remember!

Very good! My mother read these to me as a child, and the recordings don't disappoint my nostalgia! If you enjoy wholesome, you'll enjoy Jan Karon
