About this listen

There is nothing Aleron Pitre can’t steal, nobody he can’t con, and no situation he can’t slip out of until he’s sent to the prison planet Tantoret, where every sentence is death. If the prisoners don’t kill each other, they’ll die slowly and painfully from mining the poisonous drug chojal. Yet Aleron still hopes that he can escape.

Only 30 Athaki guards keep the chaos of Tantoret in check, a race of aliens stronger and faster than their human charges. Most intimidating of all is the head guard, Jasak, who has his own reasons for being sent to Tantoret.

Amidst the darkness and desperation, Aleron and Jasak share an unexpected attraction. An attraction neither can resist when Jasak claims Aleron as his mate to protect him. Then they discover that both guards and inmates are planning a coup, while a traitor from an enemy nation threatens the whole planet. Suddenly, escape from Tantoret isn’t just Aleron’s dream - it’s a matter of survival for them both.

I did not appreciate the music in the start, as I couldn't consentrate on the words and thus I missed the beginning. I tried a couple times, then just continued listening, hoping I didn't miss anything important. I'm glad I continued. It's a good story, read by a good narrator. A sweet love story in the setting of a prison planet.

Good story, good narration

Aleron is sentenced here to basically die and his only thought is to do whatever he can to escape. He has always done whatever he can to survive without a thought for anyone else.
Jasak knows that by allowing himself to take full responsibility for his actions, that he is doomed. He believes he has to do his best in order to live an honorable life.
Jasak's honor causes him to save and protect Aleron from other guards and prisoners. Everything that comes after this changes their behavior and eventually brings them together. A fascinating exploration of how they change individually and each other. Their bond is created without them realizing it until the climax of the story.
It has taken a while for me to get around to write this and I am now very tempted to relisten as it is such a good story and I would probably catch more detail that I missed on the first time.
The narration is amazingly good.

Creepy, hellish world, excellent story & portrayal

Where does Outcast Mine rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Ok, so it's in the middle. It had a lot of violence, of course, because it's set in a prision filled with men. The violence, though, leads to the main characters falling more in love with each other. You know the twist is coming at the end, and you hope that Aleron doesn't betray Jasak, but then it wouldn't have that good ending, would it?

What did you like best about this story?

I liked how Jasak was finally able to keep his honor and Aleron without guilt. I felt so bad for him throughout the whole story.

What about Jack LeFleur’s performance did you like?

He differentated the characters well. That's my biggest peeve when narrators don't do that, but Mr. LeFleur does it well.

Nice Jail Lover Story

Where does Outcast Mine rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book is near the bottom of the list, but my list is relatively short. The story held my interest enough to enjoy most of the read. As with most books like this, some of it was a little too sexually graphic for me to enjoy thoroughly.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the sci-fi mixed with gay characters.

Which scene was your favorite?

I cared for the first half of the book a lot, then it got slow till near the end.

If you could rename Outcast Mine, what would you call it?

The Gay Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

Any additional comments?

If you are gay and like sci-fi, you'll probably enjoy this listen.

A gay sci-fi adventure...

This story is well done with an interesting premise, a decent amount of world build, some pretty hot steam and good action scenes. The narration was just awesome and I will look for more from the author/s and the narrator.

I really liked this

I just finished listening to the last chapter a few minutes ago while relaxing in a bubble bath. This book was pure delicious romance. For 10 amazing hours, I was invited to enter the incredible love story of Aleron and Jasak. I was instantly hooked from the first interaction between the two and I loved listening as Aleron slowly worked his way into Jasak's hard heart. The sex scenes were incredible and had me very hot and bothered while listening, so be careful where you listen to this story. This story was intimately set and buried in the living tunnels of dirt of Tantoret where Jasak and Aleron have nothing to do but fall in love with one another. This all changes when an unknown danger approaches and threatens to destroy life as Aleron and Jasak know it. This author is extremely talented, I was so pleased by how she delineated the differences between the intergalactic species and planets. I have a feeling I won't forget this touching story anytime soon and am already planning on re-listening to it very soon. Thank you Jamie Craig for writing such a wonderful love story, and PLEASE consider a sequel! The narrator also did an excellent job. Sometimes I could hear him breathing and a couple of wheezes here and there, but I just took it as being part of the drama and acting, so no hard feelings!

Delicious romance!
