About this listen

From J.A. Jance, a writer whose thrillers are “hot and getting hotter” (Booklist), the latest in her New York Times bestselling and heart-pounding Ali Reynolds series.

Chuck Brewster, the former business partner of Ali Reynolds’s husband B. Simpson, once carried on an affair with Clarice, B.’s first wife. So when he’s found murdered with Clarice standing nearby covered in blood, it seems an open and shut case.

But Clarice swears she’s innocent and begs for Ali’s help. At the same time, someone is targeting Camille Lee while she’s on the road for High Noon. Ali is swiftly running out of time to find the real killer and keep her employee safe in this high-octane thrill ride.

This was very different than her usual. Sometimes she does have a couple of things going on, but it seemed a little disjointed this time. Too many pots in the fire I still enjoyed it and it’s always good to hear the familiar characters, but maybe stick to less storylines and more in depth and suspense.

This was different than most of the others

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

There were too many subplots that were unrelated to the main plot. Made the story difficult to follow at times. The narrator, as always was excellent!

Too many things happening

Great attention and accuracy in detailing not only American but also British police procedures. As ever I enjoyed this Ali Reynolds book just as much as I enjoyed the Joanna Brady and JP Beaumont series. Can’t wait for the next release - whichever series comes next!

Detail, detail, detail!

The plots for this series are great with human interest stories that keep me listening. A consistent use of the same narrator helps tie the series together.

I love the stories.
