About this listen
A passionate, sweeping novel of a love that transcends time.
When twenty-something Wall Street analyst Kate Wilson attracts the notice of the legendary Julian Laurence at a business meeting, no one’s more surprised than she is. Julian’s relentless energy and his extraordinary intellect electrify her, but she’s baffled by his sudden interest. Why would this handsome British billionaire—Manhattan’s most eligible bachelor—pursue a pretty but bookish young banker who hasn’t had a boyfriend since college?
The answer is beyond imagining - at least at first. Kate and Julian’s story may have begun not in the moneyed world of 21st-century Manhattan but in France during World War I, when a mysterious American woman emerged from the shadows of the Western Front to save the life of Captain Julian Laurence Ashford, a celebrated war poet and infantry officer.
Now, in modern-day New York, Kate and Julian must protect themselves from the secrets of the past, and trust in a true love that transcends time and space.

The Bahamas, 1941. Newly widowed Leonora “Lulu” Randolph arrives in Nassau to investigate the governor and his wife for a New York society magazine. After all, American readers have an insatiable appetite for news of the duke and duchess of Windsor, that glamorous couple whose love affair nearly brought the British monarchy to its knees five years earlier. Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36. They were married when Clare was 23 and Henry was 31. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future. Interesting take on time travel
The story was well written although, to my mind, it could have been edited a little more tightly. It is a good story, has an interesting 'take' on time travel and let me completely ignore the unreality of the story, from time travel to ending.
All that said, I don't think I'd have found the book nearly as interesting without the AMAZING talent of Ms LaVoy. Her delivery was, to my ears, flawless. Pacing was excellent, differentiation of voices was skillfull and absolute, and she does a fantastic job with accents. Even the parts that dragged were tolerable with the absolutely believable delivery.
The book has its hair-raising parts and some suspense and confusion but nothing that made Wussy-me want to either put the book aside or skip through parts. Those of you who are not fond of thrillers will know what I mean and can feel safe cozying up to this book.
While I probably will not reread this book, it was absolutely worth doing the first time, and definitely worth the credit.

Great listen
I loved the story! While it had a few spots that seemed a little iffy I enjoyed this story very much. Anyone who likes time travel and history this is a great one. Near the end I could not stop listening. January LaVoy does an excellent job at reading the story.

Interesting concept not well delivered
Is there anything you would change about this book?
too much gloop and little minx expressions.... hard to believe... ending got better than middle and beginning
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
pretentious wording
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
yes
Could you see Overseas being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
yes without the treacle

I WANT ONE!!!
Any additional comments?
Oh. My. Gosh! That was the most romantic, absourbing ride I've been on in a very long time! An to think, I got this as a spur of the moment impulse! Now I want a Julian for my very own! I'm an avid reader of romance and this is like nothing like I've ever encountered. I adored the sweet romance and heartbreakingly beautiful love between these two and how far they were willing to go for one another. I found myself completely enraptured with their lives - I'm finishing this dang thing at FIVE friggin A.M! Just a warning for you potential readers out there - there are no steamy sex scenes in this book!!! There is plenty of tension (so much that I was drooling for one - and kinda bummed that there wasn't just a teeny one) and lots of play. Sometimes I think that leaves a "romance" novel almost lacking in some way, unless the author can pull off something that makes the readers overlook that. But Overseas does it beautifully, in such a way that I didn't feel I was missing out and it made it almost more endearing.
I absolutely loved January LaVoy! I've never heard any of her previous works. I loved how she made it easy to keep the characters straight an her english accents were awesome - especially Julian's. I like how she didn't go to far overboard with her male voices like so many are prone to do and her voice is very pleasing to listen to.
I'm sooo glad I caved and got this book! One of the best impulses/credits I ever spent! I can't wait to see was Ms. Williams comes up with next!

Time Travel, great love story. ...........
What made the experience of listening to Overseas the most enjoyable?
I enjoyed the way that the story mixed the current time with the historical time, the story weaves you through their lives in both eras so seamlessly. it almost seams natural. Loved this book and I highly recommend it. i could not put it down.
What about January LaVoy’s performance did you like?
Her narration was excellent, ...
Who was the most memorable character of Overseas and why?
Julian Laurence is such a great billionaire hero in this book,.... no drama, no frustrating twists, just a beautifully developed love story... you cant help from falling in love with him too.

Another masterpiece by Williams
This is my 14th novel by Beatriz Williams, and it did not disappoint. She has a way of linking the past with the present that I thoroughly enjoy. This story has an element of time travel, and a romance between a modern woman and a man of the early 1900’s. Their love at times was a bit much and made me chuckle at how over the top it seemed.
Overall I enjoyed the novel, and I look forward to Williams next book coming in October!
