Publisher's summary

Down and out with an injury, Assassins defenseman Jordie Thomas has been forced away from the sport that runs through his veins. With his life crashing down around him, he's given an ultimatum. Ready or not, Jordie is forced to face his past, the fears that consume him, and the one woman he let walk away.

Kacey King had her professional dreams come true, yet her heart was battered and broken. With an Olympic gold medal around her neck, she's ready to look forward to the future but without the one man she wanted in it. In the game of life, there are winners and losers, and neither Jordie nor Kacey wants to be on the losing bench. With emotions running high and the game on the line, can two proud people find happiness with each other, or will their hearts and souls be left in the cold?

Good Listen

The previous 2 books had me ready to stop listening to this series. I decided to give it one more try. This was surprisingly good. I may try an other one.

Jordie's struggle and second chance with Kasey.

Recommendation: Read Clipped by Love (Bellevue Bullies #2) prior to reading this book.

I really appreciated the struggles Jordie goes through in this book. It is wonderful to see him realize he has a problem and try to better himself. I can understand Kasey's hurt at not being allowed to help him from the beginning, but I'm glad she realized that all that mattered was the here and now. It was wonderful to see the two find their HEA (with no cliffhanger).

I found that the series is very much overlapping with the Bellevue Bullies series at this point. It actually started overlapping in Breaking Away, where we were introduced to Claire. If you want the whole story in sequence, the book to read after this is actually book 3 in the Bellevue Bullies series, Hooked by Love, not the next book in the Assassins series, Rushing the Goal.

Jordie

I have listened to all of this series, but the last book, so far this book was the best. Hard times, drama, real life issues and true love. Because true love isn't easy, it's work and understanding each others flaws, weaknesses and strengths, then accepting them. This series is worth the credits!

Good addition to the series

I love this series from Toni Aleo. This book tackled addiction and the characters eventual recovery. I really enjoyed these characters. The narration did not disappoint.

This book was longer than the others which surprised me but after listening there was a lot to cover.

Ignore all bad reviews! Book 7 Overtime is 5 stars.

I don't know why this book would ever get A bad review. Those persons must have never gone through a person in their lives with an addiction and or some form of abuse. Not many have. Toni what an amazing job you did on writing this and telling a very touching and believable story and journey through recovery with a sympathetic pen. A fabulous addition to the series. Narration was done with great voice tone. Enjoyable to listen and experience a touching story. 5 stars all the way ... Best in series.
