Purr-fect take on Jane Austin!

Purr-suasion: Jane Austin with a Twist written by Renee Riva. The narration is provided by Izzy Risoni. This is a heartwarming and enjoyable short story by Ms. Riva with that tells a tale of a young woman escaping the rat race of the city to chase her dreams of pet grooming in rural Washington. There is drama, romance, heartbreak, and enjoyable animals. Ms. Riva also shares her after the story take on what formed the reality of this story. Events of her life and how they shape her into the writer she became.

The narration by Izzy Risoni was enjoyable. Ms. Risoni delivered an excellent vocal performance showing her wide range with this fun cast of characters. The production quality of this audiobook is also of the highest quality. I heard no problems during the entire performance. There were not any detectable flaws that I was able to hear during the entire performance such as loops, breaks, or buzzing. The production was crisp and clear. Renee Riva delivered an excellent audiobook production. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I highly recommend this audiobook.

Great Read

Purr-suasion: Jane Austin with a Twist was another great read by Renee Riva. Zoey leaves Seattle to move to a small town in Washington. She is opening up her new grooming salon called Puppy Dooz. She gave up her dream of acting and gets upset when her cat keeps ending up at a theater. Dawson is the owner of the theater playhouse and tries to get her to be the leading lady in a Jane Austin production of Persuasion. I really enjoyed listening to Zoey and Dawson's story. I loved Izzy Risoni's narration and how she brought life to the characters.

She had never realized that love...

....unrequited love ...could be so painful without an open gaping wound to show for it.”

This is perhaps the most charming Jane Austen adaptation/tribute that I have ever read in my life. And I have been a lifelong fan of Jane’s work, most especially Persuasion. This was such a lovely take on the novel, with two characters who are drawn to each other and only want the best for each other. They are firm in their faith in our Creator’s plan for us all in life, and that helps guide them to their HEA. 💕

There are the usual Jane Austen-style misunderstandings and characters who do not read the signs when they’re right there in front of them. And they are kitties! (Puppies too!). Zooey’s vixen of a cat named Sofie immediately attracts the attention of Zack’s cat, appropriately named Valentino!

The h/H strike up a charming relationship where Zach is able to bring our heroine, Zooey, out of her shell, as she has been somewhat shy and hidden herself away from the world, and not utilized her innate acting skills. She is a pet groomer who has left the hustle and bustle of the the big city to move to a small town where is she meets Zack, his family, who run the local theater, & it just so happens that so Zooey is a natural in the part of Anne Elliott in the production of Persuasion, in which of course Zack portrays Captain Wentworth, and our story takes off from there! Of course I am giving nothing away by saying that our two characters fall in love, but it is the journey to find each other as the right match for one another, no matter the cost,, as in the original Persuasion, that keeps us hooked to this audiobook, and I absolutely loved every minute of it! I highly recommend this book and give it an A+. The narrator, Izzy Risoni, does a wonderful job narrating and captures all of our characters to perfection. Her voice is as lovely as the story!

Refreshing variation

After moving to a small town in Washington to open a pet grooming salon, Zoey finds herself unexpectedly drawn to Dawson, who run the small town theater playhouse. When Dawson invites Zoey to audition for the part of Anne Elliot in the upcoming production of Jane Austen's Persuasion, Zoey can't resist the lure of the part or the leading man.

I've listened to quite a few Jane Austen adaptions, but it's rare to come across one about Persuasion. Anne Elliot has always been one of my very favorite Austen heroines and the inclusion of the play version of Persuasion was refreshing. Zoey and Dawson were the perfect pair, and I appreciated that the author included so many moments with them together. Their dialogue was fun and it was easy to see how they fell for each other over the duration of the play.

The narration was clear and easy to understand, and fit the book and characters well. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

Predictable

The narrator was great. She painted a good picture. The story was overall predictable. It would be a good book for a young reader or listener.

A Fun Play on an Austen Classic

This was such a quick, fun listen.

It a modern day setting with two characters who believe/want to believe in happy endings and that good always wins. I could relate to the main characters especially Dawson. His love of classics just got to me (in a good way.) I related to Zoey in the fact that she is an animal lover. The cat and rat dynamic was fun and symbolic.

Izzy Risoni does a nice job with the narration. She has a nice voice and inflection.
