About this listen
***An Instant New York Times Bestseller***
From the woman who is credited for launching what we know as the celebrity-focused, “brand”-driven, social-media-obsessed popular culture of today, comes an honest and surprising memoir that reckons with that truth, and shows that there is so much more to Paris Hilton than you might believe. This extended edition includes a bonus chapter detailing her motherhood journey.
I was born in New York City on February 17, 1981, three days after Valentine’s Day.
From the time I was a toddler, my brain skipped and flickered with the chemical imbalance of ADHD. Sometimes it was too much.
I’m not bragging or complaining about it, just telling you: This is my brain. It has a lot to do with how this whole book thing is going to play out, because I love run-on sentences—and dashes. And sentence fragments. I’m probably going to jump around a lot while I tell the story.
I came of age during the most turbulent pop culture period ever.
The character I played—part Lucy, part Marilyn—was my steel-plated armor.
People loved her. Or they loved to hate her, which was just as marketable. I leaned into that character, my ticket to financial freedom and a safe place to hide. I made sure I never had a quiet moment to figure out who I was without her. I was afraid of that moment because I didn’t know what I’d find.
I wrote this book in an effort to understand my place in a watershed moment: the technology renaissance, the age of influencers. I also wrote this book so that the world could know who I am today. I focused on key aspects of my life that led to what I am most proud of—how my power was taken away from me and how I took it back, how I built a thriving business, a marriage and a family.
There are so many young women who need to hear this story. I don’t want them to learn from my mistakes; I want them to stop hating themselves for their own mistakes. I want them to laugh and cry and embrace every aspect of who they are with fearlessness and pride. We all have our own brand of intelligence, and, girl, f--k fitting in.

In moving, detailed prose, he stands with firefighters at the collapsing World Trade Center on 9/11, advances with American troops in combat in Afghanistan and Iraq, and reveals private moments with presidents (and would-be presidents) he’s known for decades. Kathleen Hanna’s band Bikini Kill embodied the punk scene of the 90s, and today her personal yet feminist lyrics on anthems like “Rebel Girl” and “Double Dare Ya” are more powerful than ever. But where did this transformative voice come from? In Rebel Girl, Hanna’s raw and insightful new memoir, she takes us from her tumultuous childhood to her formative college years and her first shows. As Hanna makes clear, being in a punk “girl band” in those years was not a simple or safe prospect.

It can begin with a one-time event - typically some form of sudden loss that disrupts our projection of what the future might be. However, the true work of healing is allowing that disruption to wake us from a deep state of unconsciousness, to release the personas we adapted into, and begin consciously piecing together the full truth of who we were meant to be.

Throughout the book, Ziwe combines pop-culture commentary and personal stories that grapple with her own (mis)understanding of identity. From a hilarious case of mistaken identity via a jumbotron to a terrifying fight-or-flight encounter in the woods, Ziwe raises difficult questions for comedic relief.

Story
It took me a lifetime to have the courage and the clarity to write my memoir. I want to tell the story of the moments - the ups and downs, the triumphs and traumas, the debacles and the dreams - that contributed to the person I am today. This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival, and my songs. Unfiltered. I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say, and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side.

Gut wrenching raw
After sharing my troubled youth lockup experience with a friend of mine, she suggested I read this book. I have never felt. I could have anything in common with Paris Hilton being a 5 foot 9 200 pound mother of 5 from Utah. But as I read this book I sobbed with our similarities. I have a newfound respect for a woman I never knew I could relate to so much. ADHD, childhood trauma, child loss, ambition & drive. She so eloquently worded things that are so hard to say & hear. This is a must read.

Paris is you’re reading this review, I applaud your courage to opening up and sharing your story. I’ve adored you ever since the Simple Life and I hoped that you chose me to be your BFF when you had that show.
I always thought she was so normal, but when I heard her story, i realized she was beyond that. She is a survivor. She tells her story in this audiobook of such resilience and perseverance.
I also very much appreciate that she narrated this book. It was like she was telling me this story personally, which I love.
The extended edition I think is an add on chapter.

Shocking and Powerful
Always liked Paris, but had no idea the trauma she experienced growing up. Makes me adore her for the ability she has to speak so openly about it all while sliving her best life.

better than I expected
I've never even followed Paris Hilton, but I thought I'd give it a shot for a light read after the horrible election results and I was shocked that I actually found it interesting and was captivated throughout

Eye opening &;Real
loved that Paris narrated. you could really feel her emotions &,her pain. The book was very enjoyable to listen to although at times it made your heart ache . I learned what an amazingly intelligent human being she really is! Loved it!
