Publisher's summary

A prank war erupts in Lake Sackett, Georgia, and coroner Frankie McCready has to turn to the gorgeous but surly new sheriff for help in Molly Harper's newest Southern Eclectic novella, perfect for fans of Kristan Higgins and Amy E. Reichert.

The McCready Family Funeral Home and Bait Shop has crickets running rampant in the store and hot sauce in the Snack Shack's ketchup bottles. But as the county coroner, Frankie has enough on her plate without worrying about the increasingly mean pranks being played at her family's business. And the arrival of Sheriff Eric Linden, both devastatingly attractive and painfully taciturn, is enough to push her over the edge.

Linden, who didn't seem to get the memo about men in uniform and Southern charm, is condescending and cold, revealing absolutely nothing about his past as an Atlanta police officer, while also making Frankie's job as coroner as difficult as possible. And with the town's Fourth of July celebration coming up, it's essential for McCready's to be cricket-free and in good working order. Strangling the sheriff will make her job even harder. Can Frankie hold off the threats to preserve her own sanity?

With her trademark "clever humor, snark, silliness, and endearing protagonists" (Booklist), Molly Harper invites fans to return to the family they first met in Sweet Tea and Sympathy. Y'all sit down and stay a while, won't you?

Great but a word of advice to those interested.

This novella is a fantastic addition to this series, but keep in mind this is meant to be the prequel to the next story which continues Frankie's' story.

If any readers/listeners are familiar with Harpers' Half Moon Hollow series, you should consider this the same as. "Big Vamp on campus" or "Fangs for the Memories".

Amanda Ronconi does a great job as always and I can't imagine anyone else doing a better job.

I greatly look forward to hearing the rest of the story in the coming months.

Um, half a story with no warning

The story ends abruptly with no resolution of any of the story lines. It’s a reasonably good story, with familiar characters and good plot lines, but the fact that it stops before any kind of ending spoils it. So be warned.

Good intro!

A really interesting tease into the upcoming full story. Yes, disappointing that it was short, but it makes for a good foundation builder for the one coming. Always love this author and the reader!

Incomplete Story

I was entertained for the most part right when it ended suddenly. Slow moving and cliffhanger.

Sweet like peaches

It's very sweet and entertaining. The narrator makes it feel as if you were there and makes all the different voices. I listed to the other two books from the Southern Eclectic series and they are all just such sweet love stories, this one is not as the other two, there is also a love story in there but not as noticeable.
I only wish it would've be a longer book, I didn't want it to be over.
**Edit**
This is the second time I've listen to this book. It's sweet and entertaining. The narrator makes it feel as if you were there.
I really enjoyed it, with its southern accents and the light but very sweet love story.

I have to agree, it does seem odd...

I enjoyed listening to this, as I do with all of the Molly Harper/Amanda Ronconi collaborations. I really love the universe that they create. But this book does suffer from what many other reviewers have pointed out. It is the beginning of the story and could have easily been part of "Ain't She a Peach." Perhaps that would have made "ASaP" too long? I actually can think of many reasons the situation on this item occurred. Regardless. I am not really sorry I bought this, I am certainly not sorry I read/listened to it, but I do have a sense of being fleeced by Amazon/Audible that this "book" isn't just part of "Ain't She a Peach." Mr. Bezos, aren't you wealthy enough??
