About this listen

Three-hundred-fifty billion annually in psychiatric drugs, but where is the help or improvement in the people? Where is the science? No biological test to prove anyone has a disorder.

ECT - no one knows "how it works". With no US federal regulations on it. Where is the US FDA with this?

What is TMS? Do doctors diagnose people with disorders using a quiz?

I came across this audiobook “Persistent Self-Help or OCD, PTSD? A Controversial Review of Disorders, ECT, TMS, and Other Psychiatric Products“, which is great because I was open in trying to listen to something outside my fave genres. With this audiobook I am able to have a title I can listen to with regards to Psychiatry as well as ECT and TMS, which I currently am researching about.

This is a very controversial review of disorders. When is the truth actually the truth?. People tend to believe authority figures, but is everything they tell you, the truth?, probably not. This very well narrated audiobook reveals some very dark secrets when it comes to disorders, ECT,TMS and other psychiatric products.. Be warned. .

I was not very familiar with this subject, but this book gave me a lot of understand of problems with drugs and the phycology with children, that was a nice warning of how to proceed in the case of problem. As the author said we should help others even as simply as by sharing information that can save or improve someone else live, in this case children.

As a Mental Health Nurse, I can say that this book hit the delicate spot of these conditions. The book is very interesting and offered much information that is rarely talked about. The knowledge is in-depth and precise. I would love to share this with other nurses in my unit.

I did not regret this at all!

I absolutely, 100%, loved listening to the audiobook on Persistent Self-Help or OCD, PTSD. While the narrator was reading I felt as we were speaking one on one. I was and still am fascinated with the information that was provided. I am a 2nd year Nursing student. Mental Health was one of my best, most difficult subjects. In my opinion, this book should be integrated into the curriculum of all Mental Health Professionals.
While I will try my best not to spoil too much of the information in this book for others to enjoy. MOST MDs are quick to prescribe medications to treat a mental health disorder "symptom" rather than do more tests to look into the problem. I myself can attest to this. I was diagnosed with anxiety 5 years ago and prescribed Ativan a benzodiazepine which is a highly addictive drug. It only treated the symptoms but also had horrible side effects. Rather than becoming dependent on Ativan, I stopped taking it and treated the problem myself and won. I'm not all at all saying to stop taking a drug for a mental health disorder because doing so, without a doctor's approval, can cause other issues. This is just what worked for me. Plus, I did a lot of research into alternative treatment options such as exercising often and eating healthier.
The info on ECT is correct though and this " treatment " does produce horrible side effects which is a must-read in this book along with other insightful information.
I plan on recommending this book to my Mental Health Professor to read, she would also find this book fascinating. I considered it a personal honor reading this book and thank you for sharing your many years of research.

This book is very interesting since I had a lot of problems with anxiety and depression. I still have depression and anxiety problems, but I have them under control. I don't like pills, and I would never use them. Thanks to the author for this beneficial information, and I agree drugs only mask the problem.

Very interesting and helpful!
