Publisher's summary

Human turned phantom fae Brett has to survive mage trials when he has only just learned he's a mage. And dragon fae shifter Ena is warned that the dragon fae kingdom is in turmoil - something that she vows to help put to rights.

When Brett is forced to fight alongside the phantom fae, which means take a stand against Ena and her kind, he's not doing it. She will always have his loyalty, though when she learns he's one of her enemy fae and a mage on top of that, she might not feel the same about him.

Still, Prince Grotto is their common enemy, and if it means fighting him, maybe they can work together. Yet Brett wants more than that with Ena. Will she ever see him as more than just a human fae seer she took as payment for rescuing the kingdom's princess?

This entire series is amazing.

Any additional comments?

I love this author. She writes the most fantastic stories, what an imagination. Be prepared to be swept away into a world filled with Fae beings. Fun, loving Fae, dark, brooding Fae and everything in between. An excellent story, I highly recommend.

Another incredible flight of fae-tasy!!!!

Would you listen to Phantom Fae again? Why?

Truly, every book in this series have been endearing treats that I can see myself listening to over and over again. Heck! For your maximum enjoyment, I'd highly recommend you start from the beginning as the series is a banquet of playfulness!

If you love fairies and YA fairy tales, I highly recommend that you delve into Terry's delightful World of Fae series! The series is great for younger readers, but just as fun for older teens and adults and the stories are perfect for enjoying with your children or grandchildren. LOL! I'm in my sixties and I'm obsessed with it! This segment captured my attention from the beginning to the happy ending with endearing characters and loads of high-spirited adventure along the way. My only complaint is that I didn't want it to end! GOLDEN FAE is the next book in this enchanting series. I can't wait to listen to it!!!!!

What other book might you compare Phantom Fae to and why?

Any of the books in Terry's World of Fae series! In my opinion, this book would not work well as a standalone, as this particular storyline and characters were introduced in DRAGON FAE and continued in HAWK FAE with PHANTOM FAE as the culmination of the plot that has encompassed three books. Whereas the first four books in this series all worked well as standalones, I believe that the reader needs to be familiar with the story and the characters from the first book, THE DARK FAE, before delving into this storyline. So... if you want to jump into the series, and you don't want to read all the prior books, at least read the first book before starting the fifth book. If you do it that way, you will not be lost in this current plot.

Which scene was your favorite?

There were so many! However, the scene where Brett turned down a prestigious job to remain Ena's gardener was swoon-worthy. It was overflowing with warm-fuzzies. Here's a small excerpt from that scene:

“As soon as he stood in front of her, she folded her arms and looked cross.
"You don't have any gardening skills. You turned down a prestigious job to weed the garden?
"I will be rewarded richly in treasures untold."
She raised a brow.
"I've heard dragon-shifters pay a lot of money to merchants and the like.
"Aaagh, but you are also a dragon-shifter of a sort.
Yes, but I am a gardener, which means I don't go on high-risk missions to earn my gold.”

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed a LOT while listening to this book! I also caught myself holding my breath as the actions scenes were pretty intense - though, no worries, they were YA all the way!

Any additional comments?

We were introduced to Elizabeth Phillips' narration in the last book, DRAGON FAE. I still miss the narrator from the first four books, but Elizabeth has stepped up to the plate and she is doing very well. I'm so glad the series is continuing in audio form. I still miss the prior narrator's playful tones - she was perfect for this whimsical series - but Elizabeth's voice is very clear and she is doing a good job voicing the characters. I would not hesitate to pick up another book narrated by Elizabeth Phillips.
