Publisher's summary

We all play roles at times. Wardwick of Hurog played the role of a fool till he reached adulthood, just to keep his father from murdering him. Now he must overcome the image he so carefully built and fight not simply for his birthright but to free the five Kingdoms from tyranny and the rising tide of darkest magic that threatens his world.

Nailed it.

I'd been worried about a reader's take on Ward, whose speech is described as frustratingly slow. I shouldn't have worried - Joe Manganiello's rendition of Ward is perfect. He stresses the slow speech only when necessary to the story. Otherwise, we hear Ward's mental voice, with all the sly wit, sadness, and fury Ms. Briggs wrote into him.

Dragon Bones is one of my favorite Patricia Briggs books. Ward & Oreg showcase her remarkable ability to characterize - and J Manganiello captures them very well.

A good surprise!

If you could sum up Dragon Bones in three words, what would they be?

Surprising, intriguing, captivating

What other book might you compare Dragon Bones to and why?

Eragon somehow.

What about Joe Manganiello’s performance did you like?

The title was suggested to me by the systhem of Audible.com and I did not pay attention to the name of the Narrator in the beginning. But I listen to a lot of audio books and I must say that I loved the voice of Joe Manganiello . A radio voice that invites you to listen more and more. The intonnations and different voices of Joe Manganiello are amazing. Do not worry, you will not have the impression of hearing the character of True Blood. In short, "Bravo!" to Joe Manganiello for his performanece and I hope to be able to hear his voice again.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The end is surprising...

Any additional comments?

:) Book 2 here I come!

Really enjoyable story :D

4.-4.5 stars

This was a really good story. I liked Ward and found myself sucked into the story and the adventures that Ward and his friends/allies get pulled into. I would recommend this story and am moving on to book #2 now. :D

* note - The narrator is Joe Manganiello (as in the actor that played many things including Alcide from True Blood). I was surprised but very happy about it as his voice fit Ward's character very well.

Great Story

It's been a while since I've enjoyed a story so thoroughly.
Love the characters! The good guys fighting for what's right, and some seriously heinous bad dudes.

Truly awesome story. Must pay attention to catch change of scene and characters but narrator was very very good. Lovely deep soothing voice. Enjoyed very much.

excellent fantasy adventure

This book is my favorite among Briggs works. I have listened to most of her books, but this story is her best. I love her original thinking, excellent world building, well developed heroes, just a touch of villains, just enough evil to justify warrior heroes, but not so much to sicken the reader. Her unlikely heroes with unusual roles gave the story the complexity that allows a reader to re read the book and still have the pleasure in the details. this duology shares my re read category that contains the Vorkosigan saga, Murderbot Diaries, Spinning Silver, and Uprooted, all well crafted must reads.

Excellent narrator

Joe Manganiello did a great job with the story. I hope he will continue being the narrator if the series goes further.
