About this listen

Doing what’s right made so many things wrong. I had to get Jack - no question. I just didn’t realize bringing him home would require so much trust from everyone.

When that trust is strained, we all suffer. I’ll protect what’s mine, but my team’s bonds are being tested. Threats are suddenly everywhere - inside our magical barrier, inside our safe house, and even inside my mind.

Our enemies are closing in, and we can’t hide much longer. My men called me Queen once, and now, I know what we’re going to need to win this battle.

I’m Carlyle Licorne, and I’m ready to claim who I am.

Duet narration with amazing accents + fun fantasy

I love duet narration! It is such a wonderful listening experience! Lucas Webley and Vanessa Moyen are amazing! Lucas shows off his huge range of accents and Vanessa shows her impressive energy and emotion.

Carlisle continues to grow into who she is meant to be in this book, her guys right along side her. We can’t expect her foes to be gone, but she’s getting closer to winning at least one baffle!

The harem has 6 guys and this book def picks up the spice! If you are wanting a really complex fantasy and epic adventure this may not be the one for you. This series definitely has plot and clearly defined unique characters, but it’s fun and spicy. I think it is definitely enhanced by the audio!

better than the first

everything was better in this one than in the first one, except the story was better than the first one. this one is a little more discombobulated and messy.

reallly really really good book

I loved the sex, the drama, the details of the creatures, and the characters! I didn't like how she would always be so cocky and yet so weak or defenseless. If you're going to be stupid the at least be tough

The narrators are amazing!

I’ve enjoyed the storyline of this series. I’m looking forward to listening to the next books. However, the narration is so good that I’d listen to them read a cookbook. The male narrator plays many different characters. Each has a unique voice and I never get confused. So good!

What a good series

I’m so intrigued with all of the character developments. FMC is such a spirited character and both narrators hit the mark in adding dimension to the story.

Ahhh am really falling for this series!

Alrighty so book 3 has a lot of stuff happen, not all good so be prepared for that! I really felt bad for Carlyle in this one, she was put in such a cage to try and protect her and the baddies were able to get to her anyway! I hope we see her stick up for herself more, she needs to have a bigger role/voice and some of her guys are listening but others are not. That would be my only "complaint".

The side characters in this one were great in terms of their purpose/how the author conveyed their personality haha. I think Regina is the bane of all of our existence but the author and narrators do a really good job making the reader dislike her and hope she gets what's coming to her after treating our Qilin so poorly. I loved Austin and see the kids become more confident and wanting to lear from Carlyle and Jack while they were bunking with them. I very much dislike the newest character, Alleron, and hope he gets his comeuppance soon (I am already on book 4 so that still remains to be seen!!). I am confused by his relationships but hopefully we get more info in future books about what's going on.

In terms of the harem and our favorite unicorn, I was really happy Dair got the thing out of his rear and got his head on straight because I was gonna try and go through my phone while listening and shake him silly haha, you know, if he was real 🤣. I liked seeing Killian come around (him and Sol are 🔥 - I love me some M/M so there is a particular scene that is yummy haha). I liked how Carlyle realized more about her magic, this give and take or the various powers (and their colors!!) and how she can weave them which is really an awesome visual concept. It reminded me of some of my favorite Tamora Pierce books where the various characters had magic and how they would weave them/could visually seem them in themselves, based on their affinity. Big compliment from me, she is one of my all-time favorite authors ❤️. I am intrigued by Toro and am glad his mystery is finally solved, and can't wait to get to know him in future books since we haven't gotten to up til now. I was surprised by Jai, not gonna lie haha. The kitchen scene was perfect, and listening to book 4 I know some walls are finally coming down between them which is good but like FINAAAAAALLY hahaha.

Narration was fabulous yet again! It was cool to hear more accents in this one, both narrators did a great job. I think Lucas has a tough job here with all the guys' accents and he does a good job swapping between them. I think Toro has an almost Cajun accent but he didnt talk much so I will figure it out when he gets more airtime in books 4 and 5.

I am glad all of these are out on audio because I would have flipped if I had to wait on that cliffy haha. Good job improving with each of these books, can't wait to see what happens moving forward!

The story is okay, but MCs are not very smart

Although the sexy time in the story is good, the MCs are just not that smart. Most of the novel is them waiting around for bad things to happen with almost poor regard of what to do if things don't go as planned. The thought process and the dialogue between the characters is just weak story telling sometimes. The worst is the female MC. Always being caught off guard and making, cheesy, cliche ramblings, like, "lets go guys" and "the good guys always win". What is she a power ranger??? The female narrator is okay, but the best part about the story is the male narrator Lucus Webley. He does a very good job differentiating the male characters which is awesome.
