Wonderful story

I really enjoyed listening to the second book in this series. The author does an excellent job of further developing the characters in the book and keeps the story line moving. And the narrator has a very pleasant voice and does a wonderful job with giving life to the various characters. I look forward to hearing the next book to see what will happen next!

Youngish YA Fantasy

This 2nd book in the series gives the young protagonists no additional maturation since the 1st book, which was disappointing. Written for a "young" audience, I was surprised at the amount of cruelty, death and destruction it contained. Although the book moved the story-line much further ahead, it ends with a major cliffhanger(s). Recommended for "tweener" readers who can stomach violence.

Escalating War Between Humans and Mer!

This book mentions that the Mer attack a Human town and then the Humans in retaliation assault a Mer village, where Serina is shopping for a gift. Later, Serina witnesses a meeting between the Humans and the Pirate Queen in which an agreement is made to work together to rid the world of the Mer. This story relates the trials and tribulations that Serina and her friends undergo as the war between humans and the Mer continues to evolve. It is fast paced and progressive with detailed descriptions of action scenes and battles, so it is not for the faint of heart. I enjoyed this book, but at times I was also frustrated by the prejudice and blindness displayed by both sides. This book ends in a major cliff hanger and I am looking forward with great anticipation for the next one. Ashley Music's narration is good. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

Enjoyable listen

I received this audiobook in exchange for an unbiased review. The narrator was a good choice for this audiobook. The story continues from book 1, but can be listened to as independent story. The characters seem older than 12-13; this story is written for YA and pre-teens. At first I was confused, wondering how a baker fit in but learned the mer lived on an isle. I enjoyed listening to it, and recommend it.

NO ONE CAN BE TRUSTED

I received this audio book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.

Serina and Aleric are having another adventure. This time, they don’t trust each other to the point of hatred. Add in a sea hedge, the seahag, and her minions, along with untrusting humans and you get a full dose of pure hatred. There is total annihilation and war. I was left in a fit of rage that Aleric’s father was so cruel and dismissal to the truth.

This story ends with a cliffhanger and makes this reader want the next book to come out right away.

Once again, I loved the narrator’s depiction of the characters.

4 1/2 stars

Pirate Queen: Mermaid Academy, Book Two, my sixth read/listen from author Trevor Darby. 11-hours 35-minute/282-pages. The second book of the Mythical Creatures Fantasy series, the story-line quickly gets better & better drawing the reader deeper & deeper as the axtion grows over the length of the read. Narrator Ashley Music’s narration again adds to the book’s enjoyment. I have to admit to speeding up the playback the story was so enthralling. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. I’ll be reading more from this author as I already own 20 oyjer books by him. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018)
