It was supposed to be paradise....
Ivy MacLeod has the perfect opportunity to test her advanced remote sensing technology: mapping a World War II battle site in the islands of Palau. The project is more than an all-expenses-paid trip to paradise. It's also an opportunity to distance her reputation from her traitorous ex-husband.
But foreign intelligence agencies will kill to possess her invention, and paradise turns deadly when her ex-husband's vicious allies attack. In desperation, she turns to Air Force pilot Jack Keaton. But is he the bigger threat? Jack might be protecting her as he claims...or he could be a foreign agent. Her compass is skewed by his magnetic pull and further thrown off when she learns her own government has betrayed her.
Stranded on a tropical island with a man whose motives remain a mystery, Ivy must decide who is the spy, who is the protector, and who is the ultimate villain. She longs to trust the man who rescued her, but she's risking more than her heart. Choose right, and she saves her country's secrets - and her life. Choose wrong - and she risks nothing short of all-out war.

Nicol Zanzarella did a wonderful job narrating the stories and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly

It doesn’t take Ivy long before she is pulled in to Jack web getting down right and personal. What will she due when she finds out who and what he really is? It doesn’t take long before things get very complicate in more ways than one. The triangle gets even more complicated when others step in to take over trying to get their hands on Ivy and CAM leaving her with only one person she can trust or can she?
I thought the narrator did a wonderful job, she really bought out the characters and story. There are no background noise, no volume changes, if any breaks were taken I could not tell. I really enjoyed the emotion she really brought the story to life. Her character voices were right on the money, you always knew who was talking and what they were feeling. She really held my interest giving me an audio that came to life in my mind. I totally enjoyed this audio and look forward to listening to more of her work.
Ivy was a great character a little too naive she did handle all that came her way the best she could. I most likely would have done the same in her shoes. I really liked how she took the bull by the horn doing what she felt was best. She has no reason to trust either side each wants something from her but not willing to give much away. I really liked Jack after he got her out to sea coming clean and letting the chips fall where they way I had to really respect him and his reasoning. He is strong, caring and will do anything for his family.
The author is holding her cards close not giving out many clues to the outcome and gives you some major twists along the way. The ending will totally blow you way I never saw that coming. I really liked the characters and how this played out giving a very entertaining read. I thought this was well written with lots of passion, chemistry, honor, pain, action and following your heart even when you might think that is wrong. The author gives you a hot read with action as the bad guy are added to the game of hide and seek along with thrills that will get your heart beating fast. The ending just blows me out of the water leaving me with my mouth open. I hope you will pick this up and give it a read.
A really wonderful listen.

The plot is quite thin. The author wants the reader to buy into the following scenario: the US government allows the heroine, an employee of the Navy, to take her top secret invention (which is supposed to be the latest and greatest in surveillance and mapping technology) to a distant country out in the open for a test run without any kind of assistance or a security detail, when everyone on the globe is aware of her story (thanks to a news article detailing her personal life: her ex husband who is an arms dealer and traitor, her invention and current location). This setup is intended to send the heroine straight into the hero’s arms when bad guys appear. So said hero (who is a spy/assassin – what does that say about heroine’s judgment) whisks her away to the open sea without her the wiser (since she is so contented after a night of sex). Even after she discovers what he has done, she still can’t control her libido – her rationale is that she wants to see if she can use her sexuality to gain the upper hand (joke! – another excuse to put in more dirty talk/thoughts/acts). Basically the whole story is like that.
There’s a fair amount of filler talk about superpowers and triangles and circles (supposed to highlight heroine’s geekiness) which I can do without. The author also mistakes agencies that would fund the work described in the book – it would the NSF or the DOD, not the NIH. Finally, I just can’t quite imagine a hunk with a broad nose and receding hairline (yes, I am superficial).
On the other hand, the narrator is quite good.
Poor plotting
