About this listen

Forensic genealogist Rowan Healy has made a name for herself by helping investigators trace the family trees of violent criminals who have eluded justice for years. But the pressure of police cases left her burned out, and she’s shifted her focus to helping adoptees find their biological parents.

Austin detective Jack Bruner has spent his career successfully tracking down vicious criminals—with the notable exception of the West Campus Rapist, a meticulous offender in Texas who has never been identified. When the latest two victims come to light, Jack sees his target is escalating his violent behavior—and only with Rowan's help does he stand a chance of cracking this case.

Moved by Jack’s dedication and the brutal details of the attacks he lays out, Rowan agrees to help. When her ground-breaking DNA research sheds new light on the criminal's background and helps them zero in on a search radius, Rowan and Jack must race against the clock to find a ruthless killer who's growing bolder the longer he evades the law.

I liked this story about the use of genealogy and DNA in order to find killers. This one didn't disappoint me. The narration was good, too.

Interesting story

Loved the story and the performance. I've been a long-time reader of Laura's novels, but this is the first audio version I've listened to. I'm never bored, and the audio version was no exception. highly recommend. If I could rate all categories a 10, I would!

As always, Laura never disappoints!

Wish it was a series, so the story would continue between the main characters. Highly recommend

Griffin never fails to deliver an intriguing story with fully drawn characters . I also really liked the narrator on this one. She wasn’t blasting into my world, she was telling me a story. I loved it,

Loved it as always

Kept me interested and anything I thought was wrong - I loved the ending. Crime solved

Plot twist at end

Laura Griffin is on my list to buy always. However - I almost thought I was reading a book written by someone else. I had a hard time following the plot. To me it was all over the place and never could pick a spot to land. I found Rowan to be a neurotic "can't make up my mind about anything" character. I liked Jack a lot better as a character. Overall, this one was not a keeper for me.

Disappointed in this one.

The way the characters were written were a big turn-off, and the story was not compelling. I just didn't care and fast forwarded to the end to find out the ending. The main character - she's an expert in her field and has a long list of people who want her to help but she still has money troubles? Maybe find a new line of work. She isn't sure she should shake the hand of the detective who just came to ask her for help? Maybe she should learn some manners. And she has the nerve to suggest to the police that they use the services of her private investigator friend? Dumb. The author didn't do a lot of research or take care when writing this book, and it shows.

did not care about the story or the characters
