About this listen

One man and...

No one remembered when he'd come to the mountains - it seemed that Preacher had always been there. He'd seen a great deal in the unmapped mountains and forests of the grand North American frontier. In fact, he'd just told a friend that he wasn't surprised by anything anymore. But Preacher hadn't seen Nova Roma yet....

...A deadly dream of glory

Suddenly, Preacher is faced with the strangest, most dangerous army the High Lonesome has ever seen. It's leader is a blood-mad fanatic right out of the ancient history books. All Preacher's got on his side are his brother mountain men: tough as hardtack good old boys like Philadelphia Braddock and Frenchie Dupree; the Arapaho warrior Bold Pony; and his surefire Walker Colt...

Another great tale about mountain man Preacher

I really enjoyed this book. I am amazed by the amount of research that must have gone into the writing of this book.

Very different from previous books.

The story here is interesting but not what was expected based on the previous books. This story seems like more of a sci fi mash up than a historical fiction book. While the story was interesting, it was not what I was hoping for out of this series.

I like Preacher's character. He's tough and kind at the same time.

The Roman village/city was hard to make sense of. it just seemed too odd to even fit in the sory.

Mental Illness

This story had an overwhelming amount of mental illness in the story.
There was some missing pieces left out of the story.
Least favorite of the books so far.
The books have provided much entertainment as we drive across the U.S.

time travel

would make a great "Wild Wild West" episode. Imagination galore and great teamwork can overcome disadvantages in number.

Still great! But my least favorite of the series

Still great! But my least favorite of the series…the ending seemed rushed. As always, the narration was fantastic

Preacher in the mountain Caesar

This book was pretty intense. It was like watching some religious time from long ago.
Sad about Terry I just knew he was going to die but I had a feeling from the get-go
I wonder if preacher buried him there, or took him back to the people that he left him with to let Vicki know about her brother.
On the next book, I hope they keep recording these books because they are just completely awesome.
