About this listen

Wealth has its dangers...so do certain men.

Jasper Bond turns (female) heads wherever he goes. He can’t dance, isn’t known for his restraint, and his blood heats whenever he’s near his latest employer, the unwittingly sexy Eliza Martin. She insists no one will believe an intellectual like her could be seduced by a man of action like Jasper, but the combination of his desire and her mystery makes the case one he can’t resist. Client satisfaction is a point of pride and it’s his pleasure to prove he’s just the man she needs after all....

Sylvia Day at her Best.

These genre period pieces are what got me totally hooked on Sylvia Day. She is a master at conjuring historical romantic steamy stories. And, Justine Eyre's narrations are lyrical and add so much to the characters. I could listen over and over again. Probably will.
The leads are engaging and the plot moves along. Can't ask for more. Enjoy!

Unlike the others

I love this story so much! It wasn’t like the others I’ve read by S.D. because the woman wasn’t made for a man’s pleasure, so to speak, she was so different and I loved getting to know the characters. I knew the sex between them would be something interesting. And the story line was perfection. So interesting!

Narration was on point!

Characters are Interesting

You meet Westfield from “Ask for It,” he’s interesting and fun. Jasper picks an unlikely mate in Eliza. But what a good time everyone has! Not much sex but the sex they have is good.

Sylvia Day at her best with Historical Rom/Erotica

If you could sum up Pride and Pleasure in three words, what would they be?

Intrigue, Lust and Passion!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Eliza, her struggle with her passions, trying to rationalize feelings is all the more rewarding when she gives in.

Have you listened to any of Justine Eyre’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, Justine Eyre's performance of Regency romances and erotica is wonderful. Her voice lends well to the language of the time.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Reason or Passion, which is stronger.

Yes, the characters were interesting and unpredictable.

Any additional comments?

I usually agree with other comments posted in mass, but I thought the performance of the reader was great. I love her accent, fitting for the time period of the piece.

Another win

I am a long time admirer of Sylvia Day's work. She is a remarkable author and I love how she is able to write in so many different styles. This is another win. She included all of the best boyh expected and unexpected.

Pride and Pleasure

The story was just OK. I did not enjoy the narrator. She was difficult to understand and her voices were too stiff. The story would have been much better with a narrator that was easier to understand and follow.

The relationship between the main characters & the sex scenes was the most enjoyable thing about the story.

A DEFINATE PLEASURE TO LISTEN TO

Well Sylvia Day delivers another cleverly and skilfully written romance containing likeable characters which were all brought to life by the talented voice of Justine Eyre and jointly they will mentally transport you back in time to Regency England where you will find a rewarding and enjoyable listen awaiting you.

Right from their first meeting the all too handsome Thief-taker Jasper knew he had to have the wealthy heiress Eliza who was contemplating employing him on a secret mission, but he didn't want her money - he wanted her mind and body, but she thought he was just too everything.... too handsome, too charismatic, too sexy etc. Eliza therefore was reluctant to employ him - so, for Jasper, the challenge was set and he planned to woo and win her and his weapon of choice was of course.... seduction. However, during the task of finding out the who and why someone wanted to either scare or even kill her the couple became obsessed with each other and could no longer deny their fevered passions which resulted in some nice sexy, yet tender, love scenes.

There's passion, romance, sexual chemistry, likeable main H/H who are joined by a good supporting cast as well as an interesting plot that had hidden agendas, secrets, mysteries, murder, surprises, but mainly faith, trust and love won the day and when they were joined by truth then there could only be one outcome - and one we all love - a happily ever after.

Worth a credit? I would have happily spent a credit and not have been disappointed at all but as this was under $10 I bought it and saved the credit for my next more expensive listen.
