About this listen
Scrum is the most successful framework for agile product development, and much has been written about how to follow the Scrum process, but the key to success is in the leadership skills of the product owner. Product Mastery explores the traits of the best product owners, offering an insight into the difference between good and great product ownership and explaining how the best product owners are DRIVEN to be successful.
In a follow-up to the hugely successful Scrum Mastery, Geoff Watts shares more enlightening case studies on how to be:
Decisive with incomplete information.
Ruthless about maximizing value and minimizing risk.
Informed about your product’s domain.
Versatile in your leadership style.
Empowering of project stakeholders.
Negotiable while you pursue your vision.
This is essential for anyone involved in an agile product development effort.
Geoff Watts has been a thought leader in the agile development space for many years, and his books, training, and coaching have helped thousands of teams across the world deliver better products more effectively.
Geoff is the author of Scrum Mastery: From Good to Great Servant-Leadership and The Coach’s Casebook: Mastering The Twelve Traits That Trap Us, a winner of the 2016 International Book Awards.
"Product Mastery is a great book to read if you want to understand how a great Product Owner works. Whether you are hiring a Product Owner or want to be a great Product Owner, the insights that Geoff Watts shares in this book should be your guide." - Jeff Sutherland, co-creator of Scrum and author of Scrum: The Art of Doing Twice the Work in Half the Time
"Geoff has done a great job at distilling the soft skills product owners need to succeed. His new book is packed with practical advice to advance your skills and become a truly great product owner." - Roman Pichler, author of Strategize and Agile Product Management with Scrum

Real life references with sound teachings
I enjoyed the clarity with which the topics were covered especially as they referenced real life case studies. The language used was easy to understand and process with a steady pace. Based on my 20 years plus of experience I caught myself agreeing & then having flashbacks of similar experiences which meant the book resonated with me. I really appreciate the time, effort and passion that was injected into this book.

Important Read. Lazy Voice over
This is important stuff. The author took the time to research and craft the book.
BUT the author didn't take the time / make the effort to use the tools to actually deliver the voice over.
You can hear that he is not a professional. he relied on this English accent to carry him through.
He didn't use a pop screen. So you can hear his lips smack. He didn't edit out any mouth noises or paper noises or room tone.
He did an amateur / lazy job. Over all what he said was fine. His voice over is passable. But that isn't the point. The point is he is sharing what professionals should do and how they can be better for their teams.
But he didn't put in the money to hire a professional voice over artist or a professional editor.
So this puts into question what he teaches in the book. I need to listen to the book several times go get all his valuable information in. But I dread listening to it the second time to hear that he made the effort NOT to be professional.
Again it's hypocritical and lazy. I would rather listen to and AI voice. Also he knows what type of English accent he as. He knows when he over pronounces the "k" at the end of a line and other words. This is revealing of a specific type of UK English pronouncement. And it erodes the quality of what he is reading. To the author. Hero up and hire a professional and take your ego out of it and upload their voice.

Simply not as good as Scrum mastery
I doubted myself, I wondered wether it was because I'm not a product owner, but I really think this is simply not as good as Scrum Mastery.
Way too much general good manager/employee skills as opposed to specific prosuct owner skills. Also the exemplary stories are way less good than Scrum mastery.

the performance was great and the content was very good as well. I wish it got a little more granular, but I read this while reading a textbook on scrum at the same time and the overview in here was very valuable
