Publisher's summary

Best-selling author Robert Whitlow explores the meaning of family and home - and how faith forms the identity of both - in this breathtaking sequel to Chosen People.

Despite their Israeli citizenship, Hana and Daud cannot safely return to their homeland because a dangerous terrorist ring is threatening Daud. Hana is perfectly fine remaining in the United States, working for a law firm in Atlanta, especially when she learns she’s pregnant. But Daud can’t shake the draw to return home to Israel, even if it makes him a walking target.

Hana is helping her boss plan a huge summit in Atlanta when Jakob Brodsky, her old friend and former co-litigator, asks for her help with a case. His client is attempting to recover ancient artifacts stolen from his Jewish great-grandfather at the end of World War II. Because the case crosses several national borders, he needs Hana’s knowledge and skill to get to the bottom of what happened to these precious artifacts.

Meanwhile, Daud is called in to help a US intelligence agency extract a Ukrainian doctor from a dangerous situation in Egypt. While overseas, he can’t resist the call of Jerusalem and thus sets off a series of events that puts thousands of people in danger, including his wife and unborn child.

With historical mysteries, religious intrigue, and political danger, Promised Land asks one momentous question: What if your calling puts you - and your family - in the crosshairs?

Praise for Promised Land:

With layers of intensity, thanks to international intrigue, moments of legal wrangling, and pages of sweet relationships, this book is rich and complex. A wonderful read." (Cara Putman, author of Flight Risk)

Love the story

Only "voice" I didn't like was the New York accent lawyer but that's just me. It was different from 1st in the series and takes getting used to.

Good follow up

Narration was not perfect, but was better than in the first book. I liked this story better than the first; the writing was smoother and more mature. A very good read overall

Brought it back to God

I enjoyed this book because I could differentiate who was speaking unlike the first book. I do not typically enjoy love stories, but I did envy the character’s love story with the Lord as well as the two main characters. I have always wanted to visit the Holy Land. The books opened my eyes to the what people endure based on their beliefs.

Great follow-up to book one.

Not as much action as I was expecting, but an excellent story to listen to. The author spent a lot of time discussing recipes, maybe his next book will be a cookbook. More in-depth discussion about the main characters. The narration was much better than in book 1.

Another good Ludlow book

Loved it not only for the story, but for all the cultural description of foods & customs. Wonderful second book in this series. Will there be another?

A thoughtful story - bad narration

This story starts much slower than its predecessor but is no less interesting. The narrator tries too hard with accents and the result is a bit painful for 10 hours.

Fantastic book

Loved the sequel as well as the narration! I was impressed with the narrator's ability to distinguish so many characters, helping me to follow the story. I really enjoyed the 2 books and hearing interesting tidbits about Israel.

Another great Whitlow book!

I enjoyed this book as well as the first in the series, Chosen People. My only disappointment was having someone different read it.

Intriguing story held back by narration

Good sequel by Robert Whitlow. I enjoyed the story -good character Develpment and exciting plot. But the narration was very annoying. Some characters , but not all, were spoken with a lisp. And the American characters all sounded like they came from Jersey, not Atlanta.

I love this book

This is a great story. It's very well written, with balanced action and romance in marriage. I love how the moments spent with the Lord showed His love and power. The reader did an awesome job switching from one accent to another and using proper tones as she read.
