About this listen

Brian King was honorably discharged from the United States Navy five years ago. He'd left with the highest honors a man can receive in his country, but he'd paid the ultimate price to earn them. He'd returned home with all his limbs, his right mind, and with his only brother Ford, at his side. But, one thing had been lost, maybe for good...his voice.

Now, being a bounty hunter is Brian's only means to satisfy his need to calculate, track, and capture. He missed companionship, he missed communicating. So, when he met Sway Hamilton - in the most unconventional means - he'd been surprised at his special way of understanding Brian's every look...and touch.

Sway grew up in the rough part of ATL, trailing behind his twin brother Stanton and his best friend, Dana. He and his brother had a bond only twins could understand. So when Stanton's life was taken during their sophomore year in college, Sway didn't think he'd ever recover. However, Sway knew there was more to life than heartache.

Sway has to learn to trust in love, and Brian has to believe that Sway will always understand him even if he never speaks again.

Contains mature themes.

Brave Brian and Sweet Sway

Brian and Sway are my favorite couple. They both had such tragic past. I was so happy to see them make their relationship work.

So good!

I really enjoyed learning more about Brian and his story. I remembered wondering about him when they were first introduced in the early books. Their story was so sweet.

Amazing!!!

Every time I read this story I am reminded how much I love it. Brian is my favorite character in the whole series. Locked in silence after the horrors of war, his life changes drastically over the course of the book. Via takes a strong alpha male with severe PTSD, and adds another strong male to care for and love him with an empowerment I’ve rarely seen in stories. Sway’s whole focus is taking care of his man without emasculate if him. A beautifully written story. The communication aspect, whether communicating with words, touch, or sign language, is written in a way that translates well when presented by narrator Aiden Snow. A truly great book that is one of my very favorites, dog eared and well-loved from cover to cover.

Sway & Brian I'd have to say are my favorite for the Promises series. I've listened to this so many times I lost track.

Greta story!

Love Brian and Sways story. Love the audiobook narrator, too. He brought the character to life.

Kind of a disappointment...

I feel like I had been waiting for Brian’s story the entire series and maybe that’s why I ended up so disappointed in this one. While there are differing amounts of angst in each part of the Promises series, this one had angst overload. I was pumped for Brian and Sway’s story from the tidbits we got in Part 3, but it felt almost forced for most of the book. Sway wasn’t a terribly like-able character to me. I felt like with as much as Brian had been through in his life, he deserved someone who wasn’t as wishy-washy as Sway. From the beginning, you could feel how invested Brian was in Sway and Sway didn’t seem to reciprocate to the same extent. I guess I was hoping that their connection from Part 3 would carry on into Part 4 and make this book one big smooch fest with flowery happy endings everywhere, but I just wasn’t feeling it. In fact, I quit listening 95% of the way through and don’t really have any intentions of finishing the last 5%. From reading the reviews on Part 5 and the religious integration into the storyline, I decided to call it quits on the series. Aiden Snow is amazing, though, and I’ll be listening to some of the Nothing Special series just to get my fix.
