Intriguing romantic suspense!

--I was given this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This book had me riveted from the beginning. Romance, suspense, what more can you ask for? Heather's character was a strong woman, willing to do anything to protect her child. For me, this was easy to relate to and she was lucky enough to flee to a town that she was able to make her home. Jake, the protector, had his own set of problems but put those to the side to take in Heather and Amanda. And what better way to meet then to run into a tree? There was a lot of suspense involved, just the right amount of romance and struggle for Jake with his commitments. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline.

The narrator, Kevin Scollin was wonderful. So many times the female voices are terrible when portrayed by men, but Kevin did great job. Loved the richness of his voice and he kept me intrigued to listen.

GOOD STORY AWFUL NARRATION

BOOK REVIEW.....
A good story. I liked this book. I think the author did a good job developing the characters and creating an interesting story.

AUDIO REVIEW......
I found the narrator to sounded like he was very bored. The characters were different sounding and you could easily tell the difference of who was speaking. However they were annoying sounding. I didn't like the sound of them at all.

Narrator lacked

This is a good story. The narrator did an ok job. I felt that he portrayed a bank managing, mother trying to protect her baby as having no backbone, which obviously she did. Other male narrators often do the same thing. It is a little disheartening.

Romantic Suspense Alternate Identities

Would you listen to Protection again? Why?

I would if I only had access to book that I've previously listened to.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jake. He is consciousness, has a good heart, is loving and protective.

Have you listened to any of Kevin Scollin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first listen.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I think that when Jake spoke to his sister about leaving the priesthood and she told him that he was never meant to be a priest was one moment.

Any additional comments?

Jake is a priest in witness protection for uncovering a child trafficking ring which involved a priest and an ex-priest. A woman on the run with her baby crashes into a tree by Jake's residence. Shannon is also using an assumed identity as the wife of Shannon's ex-lover who has lots of money and power wants Shannon's baby for her own selfish reasons.

Jake's vows get tested as he falls in love with Shannon and her baby and he questions his vocation.

There is suspense, surprises and scenes that anger. All the villains do not get their full just due although they at least get taken down a few notches. All in all this is a suspenseful interesting listen.

Good story

This story was about two people living fake lives, falling in love and trying not to get killed while doing so. If you are offended by a priest questioning and then abandoning his vows, then this wouldn't be the right read for you. If on the other hand you enjoy a good love story and believe people are allowed to make mistakes, then you will like this book. The narrator did an excellent job with the voices.

Page Turner

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It was a really great story and captured your attention from the first page.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Protection?

Loved the chemistry between the two main characters (Shannon and Jake)

Did Kevin Scollin do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Mr. Scollin did a good job differentiating the characters, however, his depiction of Jake was too "simple". Jake isn't simple, he's compassionate and passionate.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I got a good chuckle from several of the visuals and dialog.

Nice, but not outstanding romance

This story starts fast .... so fast I was taken aback. The two characters are thrown platonically together immediately and the relationship builds from there. Both are hiding a secret that is tragic, frightening and ultimately alters their lives. It was okay for me. The performance was good, the story line was unique. I did not want to listen in one sitting. This is a story I went back to when I had nothing better to read or listen to.
