About this listen

I’m the father of my best friend’s sister’s son—only she doesn’t know it.

When I met Layla Craig years ago, I didn’t know she was my best friend’s off-limits sister—
all I knew is she was a bombshell and I wanted her badly.

One night we had a sizzling secret encounter and pledged to become inseparable.
Yet fate had other plans.

Drafted by the NHL, I left town.
My calls unanswered, I tried to forget her—but never could.

Six years later, I’m back home for the off-season.
Running into the love of my life again feels like a thunderbolt.
Learning she has a son who looks just like me hits me like a slapshot to my gut.
And her not knowing I'm the father stabs me in the heart.

Her protective brother suggests I become Layla’s fake fiancé to keep her psycho ex at bay—warning me it must be purely pretend.
But our chemistry crackles with sizzling attraction, pulling us together with an irresistible force...
...and this is my chance to win Layla’s and our son’s hearts.

My trophies and billions will mean nothing if I can’t have my family together.

This passionate love story promises a deliciously sweet happily ever after that will leave you swooning.
No cheating, no violence, just pure, heart-pounding love.

The storyline was cute if not hallmark movieish. Some parts were predictable but the characters made you want to continue. The narration however was AWFUL! AI read it just as robotically as you would expect. Phrasing and timing was off. Emphasis was not put in the correct spots. I would not have been able to finish the book if I did not read the majority of it.

Good Storyline, AI FAILURE

I love Brock and Eric, however the lead female character Layla is honestly pretty horrible. I just can’t like her at all….

The lead male character is great, the perfect guy!

The story was ok. Predictable but ok. I'm sure it would have been much better with a real live narrator.

Virtual Voice is tedious

I am so aggravated with the female character. Nothing the male lead has done deserves her insane level of distrust. The fact that she won't even heat him out. Just believes the worst of him. And male characters lacl of stength in attempting to deal with the lies being spread by his ex-girlfriend. If this had neen in book form i would have thrown it across the room several times. So frustrating. Virtual voice lacks inflection and gender.

Terrible narration. Annoyingly distrustful heroine

Did not like the automated, flat tone of virtual narrator. Does Not go well with action or romance genre.

Good storyline, Not good narration

The story was cute, but the computerized narration was beyond awful. It was really hard to understand which character was being portrayed as there was no change of voice depth. maybe if they had used a computerized woman's voice as well as a computerized man's voice, it would have been better. I was kind of excited for the new series, but the narration was so bad I decided it just wasn't worth the time.

really bad narration

Narrator was a virtual voice and I a real person narrator will improve it. Story plot was cute and sweet.

Cute hockey romance

This is a story but I hated the computer generated voice. It should have been a mam and a women. That way it would have been a better listen.

It was a good book. I like the story.

Everything escalated a little too quickly for my liking, but the worst part by far the narration. She sounds like she’s there’s no influx or anything in her voice.

Story was OK

I couldn't stop soon enough to write a review. it wouldn't let me write one for so long that I cringed through it. Sooo bad. It felt ick. With no proper inflection or or tone when narrating. I couldn't tell if someone was happy, sad, angry or excited, because the IA picked one and went with it. Usually the wrong way. The story felt picked apart from other stories and put together to get this one. Extra common phrases and overreactions make the eye twitch with the cringe. I don't remember the end as I just let it play out at the end so I could make sure to warn people how irritating this really is. It feels like an afront to real authors and real narrators everywhere. What real author would let their work use use such a horrible AI narrator? If this was actually a real author, They need to do much better. Where is the pride in their work that denies using narration that does nothing for their book? It takes even the so so writing and makes it sound extremely juvenile. The palms of my hand have Cresent marks still from stopping myself from turning it off repeatedly. You have no idea what I have done to help make sure to warn all of you about this travesty. I will just say, you are welcome.

Sounds fake in every way.
