About this listen

From USA Today best-selling author Harper Lin: the highly anticipated 10th book in the popular Cape Bay Cafe Mysteries

Fran throws Matt a birthday party at the cafe and invites all of Cape Bay to attend. Halfway into the party, many of the guests become sick, and some end up in the ER.

Fran fears the cause was food poisoning, but Detective Mike Stanton informs her that it was actual poison - someone at the party intentionally poisoned the pastries or punch.

Did the perp mean to target one person or to hurt as many people as possible? Did they want to shut down the cafe and destroy her business? Was it someone she knew or a sick stranger? Whoever it was, Fran had likely met the culprit at her party. And that makes her shudder.

When another partygoer ends up dead days later, Fran is on high alert. She must find the murderer before anyone else gets hurt.

Loved It

Fran, Sammie, Matt, and Mike are back, and I couldn't be happier. A joint birthday party open to the whole town is a piece of cake for Fran until virtually everyone becomes deathly ill, and so begins an adventure that will keep you entertained, even if you figure out who did it. I cannot wait for the next book.

Love the Cape Bay series

This book had me on edge. I wasn’t sure if I like it as well as the others since it was so intense. The ending was a bit abrupt but I can’t wait to go on to the next one.

New Reader

The overall story was good. A little too much time on the lead character's emotional state and personal relationship. It got tedious.
Although the reader isn't the same as previous books it helped to speed up the delivery. That helped change her tone a bit.

Poor choice of narrator

The new narrator made the flimsy plot almost intolerable to finish. Without spoiling the story for other readers, I must say that it is highly improbable and totally unimaginable that someone would go to such lengths to kill for so ridiculous a reason.

Ive enjoyed the series

I like the characters, the new narrator sounds a lot older than a 3? Year old sadly distracted me so I didn’t enjoy it nearly as much as the other books.

Different Narrarator

The Narrarator in the Previous Books was a lot better. Love all the cape bay books so far...

Love the story miss the old narrator

I think Harper Lin writes great mysteries but I just didn’t like this narrator enough to get the final book

Punch, pastries and poison

I've really enjoyed this series for the most part. Changing the narrator in this last one was disappointing. The characters are off with new voices, making the flow inconsistent.

So boring. How was this approved as a book?

I have absolutely loved every Cape Bay Cafe mystery until this one. First, I hate when they change narrators so far into a series. Second, this book was total fluff. It was so boring and seemed like only three things happen. Crime, motive, and murderer are very loosely tied together. So disappointed.
