Publisher's summary

When Sophie Vasquez and her sisters dreamed up Puppy Promise - their service-puppy training school - it was supposed to be her chance to bring some good into the world. But how can she expect to do anything when no one will take her seriously?

Enter Harrison Parks: a rough, gruff, take-no-bull wildlife firefighter in need of a diabetic service dog. He couldn't be a more unlikely fit for Sophie or Bubbles - the sweet Pomeranian she knows will be his perfect partner - but when Sophie insists he give them both a shot, something unexpected happens: He listens. Even better, he keeps on listening, even as Sophie and Bubbles turn his lonely, uber-masculine world upside-down. As it turns out, they all have something to prove...and more than enough room in their hearts for a little puppy love.

Holy crap

I was so surprised by this book. I thought it wouldn’t be that great. I usually don’t like books told from an omnipresent sort of narrator. When it popped up in the date with a book section of audible escape I thought oh well and went with it. I AM NOT DISAPPOINTED.

Sweet

Harrison the hero was one of those gruff and intimidating on the outside but soft and vulnerable on the inside. The only person he seemed to be intimidated by was Sophie, who is bright and cheery but persistent. She likes him because he’s the only one who doesn’t coddle her and he takes her seriously. The story was slow in the beginning but finds its rhythm after a couple chapters. I liked Harrison but found Sophie’s actions unprofessional and sometimes pushy. It was strange that her sisters who were the co-owners of the business didn’t blink when Sophie slept with her client. The narrator did mostly a great job, but I wished she’d use an accent for Sophie and her mom that didn’t sound so upper class. It didn’t fit with the character and made her come off pretentious. Good accents for the male voices and other characters, though, which must be challenging to do.

Boring

This story was soooooo hard to get through. I made it to chapter 10 and then had to say enough is enough. The entire time was about this huge gruff man being forced to take a tiny Pomeranian puppy as his service dog. It was ridiculous. This man worked as a firefighter who put out forest fires. He needed a dog to tell him when his insulin was to high. The dog would have to go with him on the job when he put out these fires. Seriously? A Pomeranian! I know it was suppose to be funny but it was stupid in my opinion. Then the guy was suppose to be large and scary. The picture of the guy on the cover is normal and handsome. Nothing scary about him at all. The narrator was good but the story was just NOT. At least I didn't pay for this since I got it through audible escape. Yeah for audible escape!!!

All about sex, not romance

Little to know plot, hard to listen to all the cheesy dribble and not puke.
