Publisher's summary

As the summer ends, friendship begins....

When single mom Joy Lee abandoned her old life to take a job at a lakeside resort, she found something that her family’s wealth and influence could never buy: peace of mind. Not easy to come by for the once-burned divorcée who keeps everyone at a distance. But when her new friend, Maris, dares her to take a chance with the drive-in’s charismatic new owner, everything changes for Joy and her young son.

A difficult childhood has left Maris Kennedy with definite priorities. Her job running Summer’s End, the camp store and café, comes first. Always. Nothing could ever make her risk that hard-won security - especially not her free-spirited colleague. But the more she encourages Joy to open herself up to new experiences, the more Maris begins to wonder what she, too, might be missing.

Learning how to trust will bring Joy and Maris together. And soon they form a friendship that leaves them as close as sisters - and open to love where they least expect it…in Summer’s End.

Light Read

Good light hearted story. Predicatable-however, fun and uplifting. Wish there was more into the history of the characters

My first audio book

Wonderful story, made better by the performance. Makes me wish for just a little more.

Great story and narrating

Lori Foster is one of my favorite authors in this genre. This story was solid with realistic characters that I felt for and feel in love with too. I loved the family of Summer's End but do think that they were all young instead of a mix of which is my experience with these places - but that would take away from the story! ;-) Loved that opposite spectrum background stories of two strong women - Joy and Maris - bonded as sisters; they both attracted a man who appreciated their strength and ended with unconditional love. His story, as the main protagonist story, encountered a challenging decision that could impact her sons and her life - an unexpected conflicted. Royce, the man who's come into her life and fallen into unacknowledged love, thinks she's going to make a decision negatively impacting their relationship. This is the expected conflict. How it all resolved is truly heart-warming. I wanted to keep listening to hear more of what happens in their lives. Well done.
