About this listen

Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome - especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom - so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do - and sacrifice - for her.

When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies - lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon…and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude…or killing her. When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

Poor performance

The performance was poor. She does not have enough talent to change voices for each individual. Suddenly everyone has a weird accent. And poor Alex sounds so breathy. Very hard to listen to her.

Captivating

I could not put this one down! I was looking for ways to incorporate the book into everything I did.

Interesting progression

I have enjoyed how the story has unfolded, and I am excited to see what happens next. I personally don’t really like the forbidden love plot line, or the breed order, but I will finish the series anyways. Still not a big fan of the narrator, and the weird male voices that she does. Apart from Seth pretty much every other guy has one of two voices. Makes it hard to tell who is talking when there are 4 of them together.

Getting better....

I love the relationship between Alex and Seth!! Although I always have tended to go for the bad-boy types that are a little reckless and dangerous, I figure she'll end up with Aiden in the end. The good guy with the heart of gold always ends up with the girl in the end doesn't he.... but, the books are getting better, the plot is moving along nicely, I think I'll stick with it....see where the journey takes us

Action packed

The narrator is good. Story is action filled. With lessons to learn and mistakes to be learned from.

Interesting

Would you listen to Pure again? Why?

I don't think so. Although the story is interesting, is not the kind of book that would hold my attention again.

Who was your favorite character and why?

None.

Have you listened to any of Justine Eyre’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Her performance was perfect.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. I wanted to listen, but not as badly as others books I've read.

Fantastic Story & Performance

I love this 2nd book in the series every bit as much as the 1st! Jennifer Armentrout never fails to impress me with her wonderful books and is one of the few authors I would put on auto-purchase. As with the 1st book, the characters and plot are so well developed in this story that I stayed engaged and intrigued throughout the whole book. The ending left me anxious to start the next book. I absolutely loved the narration by Justine Eyre, she did a fantastic job with the main character and other voices. She puts a lot of emotion and depth in her performance which I really appreciated. I feel completely stumped by all the negative feedback about her narration, all I can say is that those reviewers must be impossible to please. Jennifer, please don't hesitate to use Ms. Eyre again for your books, she's awesome!

Loved it!

I absolutely love this series. I wish I had started listing to it first, so I could better narration after these books. I love the books, but I do not love the narrator. The differences between male and female are few. And the accents are absolutely horrible. Other than that it’s worth reading.
