About this listen

Second in the pawsitively charming new feline mystery series set off the New England coast, where curiosity leads to some killer small-town secrets....

It's the grand opening of Daybreak Island's cat cafe, where customers can get cozy with an assortment of friendly felines - and maybe even take one or a few home. Co-owner Maddie James is purring with excitement over her new warm-and-fuzzy venture...until she becomes entangled in a petty drama between one of her volunteers, an ardent animal-rights activist, and a wealthy woman who insists on adopting a calico kitty - right this instant. The catfight that ensues is bad enough for business.

But when the snubbed socialite is found dead with a tell-tale catnip toy on the scene, suspicion lands squarely on Maddie's staffer. Now, with her reputation and her career prospects on the line (to say nothing of her budding romance with a handsome pet groomer) Maddie must do whatever it takes to solve the crime - before her nine lives are up.

GREAT READ

LOVE THIS SERIES. LIKEABLE AND INTELLIGENT CHARACTERS AND DIALOGUE. THAT DOESN'T MEAN THEY DON'T DO STUPID THINGS, OF COURSE. I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT MORE IS IN STORE FOR MADDIE, GRANDPA, ETHAN, LUCAS, CRAIG, AND ALL THE OTHERS. KEEP 'EM COMING!

4 stars

While this is a good book with an interesting mystery, Maddie is a bit annoying.

Enjoyed it

I love the concept of a cat cafe and would love to visit one. The food in the story makes me hungry and craving the muffins and cinnamon rolls . Poor Maddie is just trying to make everyone's life a little more enjoyable with the cafe, but unfortunately she finds herself more stressed trying to keep it staffed and deal with all the family issues that keep coming up. Can't wait for the next one.

Such a fun story!

I really enjoyed the first one and this one is equally good. She packed so much fun and mystery into the stories. The ending is unexpected on many fronts. Great read!

Great story line and unexpected ending!!

I really enjoy this series, not only the narrator makes the character Maddie so real but the way she narrates the story makes me feel I can see it like a movie. I can't wait to listen to the next book

Heroine/protagonist is self absorbed whiner.

I’m really torn. I like the premise of both books in this series, the first was a bit better-but even in it the protagonist seems ditsy at best. In this one she is whiney and borderline obnoxious while flittering around blaming everyone in sight for the murder. It’s really hard to like her, let alone have any compassion for her. I’ll give the next in the series a try, but if there isn’t some growth in the main character-I’m done. 😢
