What happened after the happily ever after?

You all know the story of your favorite fairy tale, but did you ever wonder what happened after the fairy tale ending? Well, we know. Not all afters end up happily. Sometimes the real adventure starts much later....

Living in a kingdom surrounded by ocean and filled with waterways, I'm supposed to love the sea creatures Atlantice is famous for. What the people don't know is that I'm a proud member of the Anti Mermaid League. My mission in life is to rid the kingdom's waters of the Merfolk that inhabit them. Or at least it was, until I met one of them....

My name's Princess Blaise of Atlantice, daughter of the Little Mermaid, and here is my story....

Lighting-fast stories you won’t be able to stop listening to Fantasy has never been so epic!

A different spin on the Little Mermaid

In this story, there is a Princess and the mermaid is a dashing young man, a merman.

The princess does not like mermaids and neither does her people. There is a group of Mermaid haters. But the princess stumbles upon a merman and a secret that just might lead her to a change of heart.

This is part of a bigger series, Kingdom of Fairytales, and I wish I had discovered it sooner. The release a book every Wednesday about different fairytales that all sort of tie into each other. I definitely need to go back and start from the beginning.

The story is cute, I do wish the other parts of it were in audio because the narrator was really good for the part and I enjoyed listening to her.

I received the audiobook for free from StoryOrigin in exchange for an honest review.

A great story

This story was well written. I loved the characters. It was cool to have a merman & a very nice one at that. Hannah was awful to her friend & I felt very bad for the queen. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Cliff Jumper

I admit I was disappointed in the ending, jump off a cliff much? But I enjoyed the story it is a different take on the old fairy tale. The narrator did an okay job, did not put much excitement in her voice where it would have been appreciated. How can someone hate merpeople? They always help those in trouble on the ocean. I am hoping all the stories tie in together at some point, just to give a good ending since all the primary characters seem to be in some kind of trouble related to their individual story. Looking forward to the next one to see what happens.

Princess Blaze is no Little Mermaid

Princess Blaise is the Little Mermaid's daughter. She is raised on land and is in an anti-merfolk group learning their doctrine believing that Merfolk are evil and they do bad deeds to humans. This story really makes you want to dislike her and I did. Through this story she is saved by a merman and he tells her that all her beliefs about merfolk are wrong. Through the rest of the story you learn more about Blaze and her mother. The ending left me wanting to know where the story goes from here. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and this is my honest review.

I liked it!

I love how the "AML" is like Religion and the mermaid lovers are like Atheists. The whole "This book says so, therefore it must be true!" And all the stories with no surviving witnesses deemed as fact. That makes me giggle. I approve the message favoring freethinkers not brainwashed religious followers! Good quick story. I'll listen to the 2nd book next,

Fun take on an old tale

I enjoy the concept of these books, looking past ever after is really fun. The narration is ok, the pace is great but I wish there were more differentiations between characters besides accent. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Parents: there is mild language but no intimate relationships or scenes. PG13 at worst.

Story of Ariels (The Little Mermaid) daughter.

I loved listening to this story. It was such an interesting new take on the Little Mermaid stories you all know and love. This is written in the view of Ariels daughter.

It starts out in a different way that I would have liked, with no explanation of why, but you do get to find out later on which makes it ok. I am very glad it wasnt left as a loose end.

Narrator does a great job giving a feel for each character and their own voice. You really get drawn in.

Glad I screen books. it's ok for older.

It was ok, wasn't really what I would thought it would be for the lenght it is. Thought is was more geared for kids like for my grandchild to listen to. I am glad I screen a book/novel before just assuming and letting them listen to it. Thank you for the opportunity to listen and review, for me, it was an ok book. :-) Have a blessed day.

Angsty teen fantasy

My review is based on the quality of writing and the narration. I didn't finish the book because it reminded me why I stopped reading Young Adult. Blaze, the main character is so full of prejudice and hate and nothing is going to change her mind. An hour into the story and I still didn't know why she believed everything she'd ever heard from the AML-anti mermaid league. When she meets a merman, that she's attracted to no less, she desperately clings to her hatred of his people. When her mother turns into a mermaid in front of her she's so betrayed and angry she storms away. It was just too much for me.

However, the writing itself is clean and well-written. The story just wasn't for me at this time and my current emotional state.

The narrator does a lovely job. She's easy to listen to and is totally believable as a teen girl.

All in all, I give this story a 3.5 and the narrator a 4.

1-5 scale and what it means:
1: I couldn’t even finish it / just plain bad
2: I hope I didn’t pay for this / disappointing
3: I didn’t hate it, but it was still missing something / forgettable but inoffensive
3.5: On the line between good and ok / like, not love
4: Solid mind candy / worth reading
4.5: So very close to perfection! / must read
5: I could not put it down and I’m still thinking about it! / a true treasure
