Really great short series!

Very likable characters! Great job coming up with fun stories and the narrator is absolutely fantastic. Definitely recommend this along with the original series.

Mermaids, mythology and a breathtaking story

I have initially read this as it came out in three different books. I was super-excited to find it in one big edition, because it's the perfect gift for the fantasy-loving bookworm. And I have a couple of those in my family, so this will be their next birthday or Christmas gift.

I love many things about the author, A.L. Knorr, but what comes to mind immediately is her creativity and wonderful writing. She is one of the few readers which made me appreciate a well-written sentence and STILL has amazing plots in her books.

This particular collection is one of my favorite segments in her Elemental universe. It's about a mermaid, Targa, who figures out why mermaids are "cursed" to alternate between land and water. This story takes her back hundreds of year in mermaid history and it's wonderful to see the blend between then and now. I absolutely loved her adventures and I'm trying my best to express that without giving away spoilers.

The narrator, Marni Penning is also amazing. I love how she manages to adapt the character's voices and to different accents. The story takes place in a handful of different countries and while everyone speaks English, it is impressive to see all the different accents she can do. But don't worry, everything is understandable, even for a non-native speaker!

Overall, I really really REALLY recommend this book (and this writer and her Elemental series).

Modern and Legendary

Creatively exquisite in the mystery of mermaids and sirens. Being both beautiful creatures and haunting monsters while mixing in legends and history. Very much enjoyed the images in my mind while listening to this telling.

Great story poor narration

I’m currently enjoying the story, but I find the narration a bit challenging to follow at times. There doesn’t seem to be much distinction between the characters, which can make it difficult to keep track of who is speaking when I leave and return to the story.

Quality mermaid folklore blended with modern day

I'm so glad I bought the trilogy. Didn't have to stop listening more than the time I was at work. really great story, plot and narrator. Did take me some time to get used to the fully Canadian speech. heh Definitely recommend!

Loved it

If you enjoyed born of water or any of the other elemental books you will love this series. Pieces fall into place gradually throughout all 3 books that even link you back to born of water. I have been obsessed since the first book I read of the elemental series and I highly recommend all of the books connected to it.

Enjoyable

I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy this because Targa was not my favorite element but I really enjoyed all the history that unfolded throughout the series.
