AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!

Another thrilling domestic suspense novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The Couple Next Door

“The most addictive book I've read in ages—so slick and disquieting and clever. Just brilliant.” —Lisa Jewell, #1
New York Times bestselling author of The Family Remains

“Lapena is a master of manipulation.” —USA Today

Welcome to Stanhope. A safe neighborhood. A place for families.

William Wooler is a family man, on the surface. But he’s been having an affair, an affair that ended horribly this afternoon at a motel up the road. So when he returns to his house, devastated and angry, to find his difficult nine-year-old daughter, Avery, unexpectedly home from school, William loses his temper.

Hours later, Avery’s family declares her missing.

Suddenly Stanhope doesn’t feel so safe. And William isn’t the only one on his street who’s hiding a lie. As witnesses come forward with information that may or may not be true, Avery's neighbors become increasingly unhinged.

Who took Avery Wooler?

Nothing will prepare you for the truth.

Critic reviews

“Shari Lapena has proved herself a master of twisty domestic thrillers, and her latest is no exception . . . You may think you have it figured out multiple times throughout the story, but the true final twist doesn’t come until the last page.” —Glamour.com

“Everyone Here Is Lying is a Shari Lapena signature read: a taut, clever, chilling ride of manipulation and family secrets, with a terrifying question at its core—what if you can't believe the very people you love the most? Lapena masterfully builds a chain of suspense through the unsuspecting neighbors of Connaught Street, and no family is spared. Prepare to be consumed!” —Ashley Audrain, New York Times bestselling author of The Push

“Shari Lapena delivers another brilliant, propulsive thriller in Everyone Here Is Lying. Sharply observed and at times unexpectedly touching, the novel deftly unpicks a tangled knot of deceit and intrigue until the most shocking truth is revealed. I defy you to put it down until you know what happened to Avery Wooler." —Gilly Macmillan, New York Times bestselling author of The Long Weekend

Astonishing!!!

I enjoyed this book to the very end. Very well written. Characters are so vivid and real. Twisted plot but very well put together. Narrator is fantastic.

Lost credibility near end

Narration was wonderful and helped keep me interested.
Spoiler……
Until about 3/4 of the way through this book, I was hooked. Then when I realized this scheme was put into motion by a 9 year old, I was disappointed with the author. Her other books have been much more realistic. I would not recommend this book simply because of this point. Overall it was good and would have been very good if Avery were quite a bit older. I kept thinking, “really a 9 year old does this stuff???”

Writing is Good Subject is Awful

The writing is really good, the main subject is a unbelivable narcissistic 9 year old & it's a huge turn- off, I just couldn't relate or care.

Classic Shari Lapena

I'll start with, I am a huge Shari Lapena fan.

I was excited to see this new book and I was not let down. The story is interesting, thrilling, and truly not super predictable. Honestly, it may not be as riveting as past novels but it's still an amazing story-line with many, many characters introduced.

If you've never read Shari Lapena, I'd suggest starting with another title like The Couple Next Door or The End of Her before this one. But if you have read her before then I definitely recommend.

Great Story!

This is the story of some residents of a Stanhope neighborhood... These people are your average, typical and everyday. Their lives are turned upside down when daughter of their version of Dr McDreamy, goes missing. Secrets are exploited and exposed... Relationships are tested... Families are divided... Everyone has a secret... Hell breaks loose...

Everyone here is lying...

Great job to both the writer and the narrator. I loved how the detectives worked together and supported each other's 'gut instincts'. The ensemble of the neighbors were diverse and supported this drama that may upset a few readers, but we should remember that these people are mere characters. I enjoyed it. And the ending leaves the question of: What could you possibly do for punishment? It isn't a non-ending as much as a question of What could you possibly do?
