About this listen

Return to the City of Sin, where the final game is about to begin...and winning will demand the ultimate sacrifice.

Only days after a corrupt election and brutal street war, one last bloodthirsty game has begun. The players? The 22 most powerful, notorious people in New Reynes.

After realizing they have no choice but to play, Enne Scordata and Levi Glaisyer are desperate to forge new alliances and bargain for their safety. But while Levi offers false smiles and an even falser peace to the city’s politicians, Enne must face a world where her true Mizer identity has been revealed...and any misstep could turn deadly.

Meanwhile, a far more dangerous opponent has appeared on the board, one plucked right from the most gruesome legends of New Reynes. As the game takes its final, vicious turn, Levi and Enne must decide once and for all whether to be partners or enemies.

Because in a game for survival, there are only losers....

And monsters.

Very Good

I was taken aback at first because the narrator is different from the first two books. I did get used to it. It was still very good.

hard time adjusting to new narrator

Story remained well done. but the new narrator wasn't as compelling as the original. I found it difficult to get as sucked into this book of the series because I was already so invested in the characters in the way that the narrator from the first two portrayed them. This new narrator wasn't quite as good at differentiating the characters and sometimes it was a little confusing in my opinion. Regardless, the story continued to be great, but all in all I was instantly disappointed at the random change in narrator.

New Narrator

As you'll see on a ton of other reviews, the narrator changed. I did not like this woman as much but honestly it was just so much harder to focus after listening to a different voice for the first two books. I flew through the first too in less than 2 weeks then got to this one and could not get into it. I found I'd have it playing but wasn't really listening. Her voice didn't capture me at all. The storyline was still good though

Storyline amazing, change of narration unfortunate

The story was wrapped up very well and the author lost none of her previous talent to grasp the reader and depict the thinking of separate characters. However I've been binging the trilogy and having to readjust to another narrator after two volumes was really uncomfortable and took me a while, especially since the 3rd book's narration felt like it decreased in quality a bit - both the audio quality and the emotion in the voice. With switching to 1.15 speed I've gotten used to it, but I'd rather not have to. So whatever the cause for the change was, it really lowered the great experience and the publishing house should think twice about it next time, as literally every review here complains about it and it's also not fair to the author, that the dynamic parts of her book are read out so sternly and with no intonation in the voice...

the narrator still works

there are so many negative reviews about the narrator- it didn't bother me one bit. honestly, barely noticed. maybe because i listened to something else in between. if you liked book one and two this one is still a good listen.

A great final book

As with the other books, this story was written well, and kept my attention. Queen of Volts had twists and turns and unexpected changes. I love when a story has a good conclusion, and this was no exception. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and would love to see it turned into a movie! I listened on Audible and was disappointed the same narrator for the first two books wasn't used. This narrator didn't do the voices as well, so it was hard to tell who was speaking but the Author fixed it with giving the speaker's name. I had to turn the speed up to 1.15 just to feel like it was being read normally. She has a pleasant voice but was too slow and it didn't fit the story.

Not ADHD FRIENDLY NARRATOR

the cadence the tone. The story is so good, and I listened to the first two on audio. Returned this last one waiting on the physical book to come in the mail. Tried multiple times can’t make it past two minutes into chapter two. The audio is weird and makes it hard to focus or follow. Being make the old narrator! Or I hope any future narrators will take notes on previous ones specially if they are reading as the same character.
