Small-town Deputy Sheriff A.J. "Jesse" Prieo led a comfortable life with his wife and daughter by his side. All that changed in an instant when genetically engineered creatures - terrifyingly similar to velociraptors - were set loose on an unsuspecting world. In the post-apocalyptic aftermath, pockets of civilization endure, but they are few and far between. Helped by a sword-wielding former radical, a woman of shifting loyalties, and a mysterious lost child, Jesse must do whatever it takes to lay his ghosts to rest and survive long enough to uncover the twisted secrets behind the raptor apocalypse.

If you could sum up Raptor Apocalypse in three words, what would they be?
Literal Raptor ApocalypseWhat did you like best about this story?
What I think I enjoyed best about RA Book 1 is that it managed to combine the very popular Zombie and Apocalypse genres with dinosaurs, an all too untouched or commonly poorly handled subject in fiction. Well portrayed and interesting characters in a world described to be clearly imagined in the mind's eye being subjected to a unique and exciting horror, makes Raptor Apocalypse Book 1 the start to a series I am now truly looking forwards to reading through in its entirety. That being said, if you are looking for something with substantial meat to it and much scientific actuality to it, understand, this is a fun, B-movie story written in a serious manner. It has its dark moments and can leave your heart strings tugged at times. Thank you for the enjoyable read and fun start to an adventure Steve R. Yeager! What about Alex Lankford’s performance did you like?
Being a Canadian, it took me a little while to adjust to Alex Lankford's accent. I took a couple chapters to get it in my mind that his voice fits perfectly in with Raptor Apocalypse because of the region in which the story takes place. He spoke clearly and other than when a character screamed or yelled, I could not find a flaw in his performance. I do not think I have found a performer in an audio book who has mastered the perfect "Noooo!" or scream or yell from a character. Good job Mr. Lankford.Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was happy with the author's ability to take a story like this seriously and although fun, so dark at times as well.Any additional comments?
Thank you Steve for the gift of this audio book. I greatly appreciated it and cant wait to either get the books 2 and 3 for my kindle or for the audio books to be produced so I can give them a listen too.28 Days later meets Jurassic Park

What made the experience of listening to Raptor Apocalypse the most enjoyable?
This is a completely new take on an apocalyptic world, I don't do spoilers in my reviews so I will not get into details but if you are tired of zombies, emp's and rampant viruses, listen to this book, Jurassic Park it's not.Any additional comments?

Anyway, the plot of this isn't hard to understand... genetically modified things escape, breed like crazy, eats humans, end of the world as we know it! It sounds like a typical, old style, campy, B-Movie plot, and while it kind of is, it's also so much more. This story has heart and will keep you gripped till the very end. It's a unique take on the end of the world but is also a tale of hope, of survival against the odds and of realising your mistakes.
Character wise, this follows some very different characters, all of whom were well written and developed, and I have to say that I loved them all, especially the raptors ;) Deputy Sheriff Jesse is just a normal guy trying to survive a horrible world. Cory was intriguing. He wields his Katana expertly and isn't afraid to battle the beasts, but what's his story? Then we have the mysterious little girl. Who is she??
In all, this was a pleasant surprise and one I ended up devouring. It's bloody, it's dark, but it's such a great read that you will have a hard time putting it down. I really need book 2 to see what happens! Thoroughly enjoyable and I highly recommend it!!
Alex Lankford seems to be a new narrator and it showed a bit. He did a great job for his first time, but I felt like he needs a little work with his tones and cadences. He needs to know when to amp up the tension and when to slow it down, but I'm sure that will come with experience.
