About this listen

In this latest Orchard mystery, amateur sleuth Meg Corey takes a bite out of crime.... Some baby-faced chefs, fresh out of cooking school, are looking to open a restaurant in Granford. They plan on using local foods - great news for city girl banker-turned orchard owner Meg Corey. Yet when one of the chefs is found dead, face-down in a farmer's pig wallow, plans come to a screeching halt. And Meg soon discovers they may have a locally grown killer on their hands.

An Apple A Day Might ....

Meg continues to slog through the learning process of running her apple orchard. She has a long task list of needs for her 200 year old Colonial house. All of them expensive. Getting involved in helping a young couple start their restaurant business in Granford is cutting into her other duties in a big way. When the Sou Chef turns up face down in a pig wallow, Meg sets out to find out who killed him and why. A bit of an over kill on the pesticides. I found that slow and a bit dull to listen too. Robin Miles to the rescue with her outstanding narration that makes even the less interesting and slow parts move along and sound more interesting then they really are.

Good listen

Any additional comments?

This series of life in the town of Granford, Mass. is entertaining....of course the main character, Meg Corey is usually involved (somehow or another) along with Seth. I like how the story is progressing without feeling like the author is stringing it out or rushing the characters.

Entertaining

This is another good addition to the Orchard Mysteries. I thought I new the killer but was shocked at the final outcome. I don't like the narrator for this series. I think she puts emphasizes in the wrong places and sometimes her voice is to nasal. I was disappointed that the recipes were not included at the end of the book. I might get the Kindle version for the next book because of it.

All I can say is I can’t wait to see how the next book series solves the mystery of another murder in this little town.
I have enjoyed this author’s mysteries at Mays Apple Orchard. ,

I love how the relationships are growing. I also love the new people added to the story. I think the story was good it didn't end the way I thought it would. I love the relationship with Meg and Seth but also see it taking a turn. You have to get to book to find out how.

What did you like best about this story?

How everyone comes together to help with the restaurant. I also like how we are left wondering about the end of the book and wanting more.

Another good book in the series

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Was indeed surprised by the ending, wasn't at all what I expected it to be. It is the kind of book that I like, it doesn't reveal the "villain" until the end.

Any additional comments?

Have listened to many of Sheila Connolly books, good author, love her books. Many great series that she has.
