About this listen

Wedding bells are ringing all over Sugar Creek Gap for Bernadette Butler and Mac Tabor.

Folks in Sugar Creek Gap, Kentucky, are so excited for Bernadette Butler! She's getting married to Mac Tabor, the man of her dreams!

Wedding week is nerve-wracking enough, but add to that a murder of a local radio DJ with a nasty reputation, who was found stabbed to death with a letter opener days before Bernadette's wedding, and the DJ who Bernadette hired for the wedding is the number one suspect. Now Bernadette has not only possibly lost a big part of her dream wedding, she'll have to solve a mystery with more layers than the five-tiered wedding cake!

I loved the interaction and dialogue between the characters of this series. It certainly upholds how wonderful friendship and relations between individuals and family should be. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and have already purchased another by Tonya Kappes. This will be my fifth series of purchases!
Tiffany Morgan is a wonderful narrator whom I truly enjoyed. It was very easy to distinguish between characters with Tiffany’s incredible ability with accents and dialect.

Great, Warm Series! Buy This Series!

In this outing, Bernie has a full plate. Only days away from Clara's first birthday party, the Big Game, and her own wedding to Mac, Bernie once again becomes involved investigating a murder, one that mimics the attempted murder of her friend and sometime sleuthing partner at the end of the previous book. To add to the melee, the only DJ in town, the one scheduled for her wedding, becomes a top suspect in the murder. Fortunately, Bernie is not one of those drama queens, and Mac is a rock through all of her escapades.

I truly enjoy spending time with Bernie, her family and friends, and this book was no exception. I adore Mac, and the friendship between Iris and Bernie is enviable. The close knit family and community ties give this series its flavor and keep me coming back. Don't get me wrong. The mystery is a must, as well, and this one did not disappoint. I look forward to more adventures with these characters and hope to see more of Vince in the next one.

Cleanly written. Well developing characters you want to cheer on. Murderer a surprise. Keep ‘‘em coming, Tanya!

To Be Continued I Hope

When we last heard from the group in Sugar Creek Julia and Grady were expecting and both were concerned because they wanted to wait a few years. Now Clara is not yet 1 year and they are all a flutter because Julia can't get pregnant.

I also have to quibble with how she loosely threw around the job title of meteorologist. That is a specific area of study. If the person doesn't have the degree then they are the local weatherman.

The story was good, it has become somewhat formulaic I started skipping over sections. Was she walking with the mail, riding a bike, or driving? Who knows.

As always the narration, except for little Clara, was excellent. Clara sounded too much like Chuckie from the horror film.
