About this listen

A fateful car accident, a strange Abbey ruled by an even stranger Abbess, an insane demon, a world where right and wrong becomes dangerously twisted, and a confident, rebellious teenager...

Dayton Blainey is a foul-mouthed, grief-stricken young woman forced to live with a religiously eccentric aunt who favors her moral older sister. But when Dayton's life becomes intertwined with a dangerous stranger, she suddenly finds herself at the center of a war fought since the beginning of time.

Trapped between what she believes is right, and a forbidden attraction, Dayton must come to terms with betrayal and her surprising lineage to stop a war before it even begins.

I actually really liked the story, once it got going. It was just so hard to get over this narrator's voice. If I wanted to listen to (what sounds like) a 15 year old read a book out loud I would go to a local high school and sit in an English class. That is how bad this narrator was. Her voices for other characters, especially the male ones, weren't at all different. There was not any acting here to make it worth the cost of an audible book. There are audible books I listen to over and over again because the narrator is so good and acts things out to really get you enthralled. This was like nails on a chalk board. The actually story seems great but I would buy the next book rather than listen to it.

Terrible narrator

I am unable to provide an objective review of the book itself as the narrator made it impossible for me to get beyond the first chapter. Enduring this monotonous voice of a 14-year old girl was simply unbearable. If this was intended as a grade 8 speed reading test, she would have passed with flying colours. What a disappointment. PLEASE don't use her again.
