Walt Longmire is back after the escapades of First Frost and encounters one of his most baffling cases in Wyoming’s brutal and unforgiving Red Desert.

When Blair McGowan, the mail person with the longest postal route in the country of over three hundred mile a day, goes missing the question becomes—where do you look for her? The Postal Inspector for the State of Wyoming elicits Sheriff Longmire to mount an investigation into her disappearance and Walt does everything but mail it in; posing as a letter-carrier himself, the good sheriff follows her trail and finds himself enveloped in the intrigue of an otherworldly cult.

Packed to the brim with twists and turns, the 21st novel in the New York Times bestselling Longmire series pushes Walt to his absolute limits, forcing him to wrestle with the impossible question: What good are your morals, if you’re marked for the dead letter office?

Craig Johnson does it again in creating a Walt Longmire story that is original and wonderful read. Enjoyed the extra parts with “Dog”.

Great as Always

This Longmire had a little bit of a goofy storyline - not as solid as most of the others - but overall, it was a reasonable addition to the series. As always, GG did a great narration.

Always good

I love both the easy-going nature of Walt, the sheriff of Absoroka County, as well a George Guidall’s superb narration.

A very enjoyable read!

George’s telling of stories is always on point! Another great book by Craig Johnson. Although, I did miss the traditional characters of Henry and Vic

Narrators truly do make the story!

I began as a fan of the Longmire TV show. Once I found the books, I was hooked. Craig Johnson found a kindred spirit in George Guidell. Wonderful novel.

Love George Guidell as a narrator

I liked the story overall, I mean, how can you go wrong with a Sheriff Longmire story narrated by George Guidell...but the pace was a tad slow. The only thing I did not like was that at the end, the author never addressed what dog was doing the whole time he was "missing." Are we really to believe he just went back to the truck and waited?

The fragility and strength of senior citizens!

somewhat predictable with all the problems Sherrif Longmire occurring before he finally gets out.

it is good but not a favorite

I would have liked to see more of Vic and Standing Bear, but they are clearly waiting in the wings for the next Longmire outing.

As a long-haul fan of the series I found it consistent, familiar and rewarding.
