About this listen

Texas Hold ’em in paradise. A table full of suspects. The minimum bet could cost him his life.

PI Edgar Allan “Poe” Rutherford is tired of taking down murderers. So when a detective comes to him with a suspicious case of a millionaire who drove off a Maui cliff, he declines her request for help. But when the victim’s scorned lover demands money in exchange for information, Poe is pulled back into the game.

Demanding answers from the selfish vulture, the relentless private eye uncovers a connection to a high-seas, high-stakes illicit poker ring. And after he discovers the vicious men involved, he’s convinced the death was no accident. But to find the murderer, the charming PI needs to get on the yacht and take a seat at the table...

Can the sharp-witted investigator flush out a sinister cabal before he’s dealt a dead man’s hand?

Rich and Dead is the 12th standalone novel in the tropically intriguing Murder on Maui mystery series. If you like charismatic characters, hang-loose humor, and dicey island scheming, then you’ll love Robert W. Stephens’ seaside chiller.

Extremely Enjoyable

This is Robert W. Stephens’s 12th book in the Murder on Maui Series. This is perhaps the best in the series. The author does a great job at drawing out his characters. Each one is so lifelike. It is a delightful escape during this stressful pandemic year.

The narrator, James Fouhey, is fun and flawless!

This book is fine as a stand alone. The narrator is easy to hear and understand. The book added enough new characters to create a solid mystery but not so many that a person gets lost or confused. There is no graphic sex or swear words. This series is fun for all, but especially, great for seniors.

I love this series so much. I can’t wait for Robert W Stevens’s and James Fouhey’s next Murder on Maui mystery. It is my favorite series of all.

The Best for Last?

Yes and No. Yes, this is another Great story by Stephens for Poe and Friends (old & new). And no, I understand we'll definitely have at least one more Poe Adventure coming soon...Thank you, Robert!! In Rich and Dead, Poe and Fox go High Stakes in illegal poker games on a private yacht. As the bodies keep falling and the game get more deadly, Poe and Fox find themselves out to sea with a leaking bullet hole in one of them. I'm no spoiler, so get your own copy to see if Poe can keep his head above water!
